Where Are The New Fisher Models ?

I wish the same thing, but I don't make the decisions.

Where Are The New Fisher Models ?

The day we phase out hobby detectors is probably the day we lock the doors for good. Metal detectors pay the bills here, and FTP currently owns the low-end market. That's just not what most of the folks on these forums are looking for.

Question re Fisher 1265-X batteries / voltage / wiring

I found a battery cover in my stock of Fisher parts. It's NOS but the foam battery cushions will need replacing (easy-peasy). PM me your address and I'll mail it to you.

Where Are The New Fisher Models ?

There is nothing on the immediate horizon from FTP. There is an SMF project in the works but I'd be very surprised if you could buy it for Christmas next year. Impulse Gold is probably the next release, likely mid 2023 and likely that's all for 2023.

Question re Fisher 1265-X batteries / voltage / wiring

Sorry, responded in the other thread but will repeat it here... Originally there were 2 battery holders, each 6V, internally they are connected in series. These are what you need: https://www.amazon.com/Corpco-Battery-Holder-Standard-Connector/dp/B07R3S9LBG As you can see, they plug on to the...

    The great fisher 1265 x

Originally there were 2 battery holders, each 6V, internally they are connected in series. These are what you need: https://www.amazon.com/Corpco-Battery-Holder-Standard-Connector/dp/B07R3S9LBG As you can see, they plug on to the existing battery clips, no wiring needed.

NOKTA MAKRO (LEGEND) GETTING SUED - PATENT INFRINGEMENT

Like I said, patents only last 20 years, after that the invention becomes public domain. All the car companies play the patent game, I took a quick look and Ford has over 20,000 patents filed just in the last 20 years. That's why you see particular features in some brands but not others. Things...

NOKTA MAKRO (LEGEND) GETTING SUED - PATENT INFRINGEMENT

Minelab is a for-profit business and, in fact, publicly traded so its priority is its shareholders. That's true of most companies. If ML can use the patent system to restrict competition and make more money then that's what they should be expected to do. And if they can create a de facto...

NOKTA MAKRO (LEGEND) GETTING SUED - PATENT INFRINGEMENT

A lot of people are opining on this lawsuit without even knowing what the lawsuit is about. The patent in question (US7579839) basically says: "A metal detector with a switched-voltage transmitter (basically all multifrequency designs) with synchronous demodulators (basically all metal...

Minelab F-3 - designed for detecting land mines

The "1.25kHz" refers to the pulse frequency, which has no correlation whatsoever to a VLF detector's frequency. Generally, a mine detector designed for minimum metal mines will have similar performance to what you find in a nugget detector as they are both trying to find very small bits of...

Does anyone know of / or recall a comprehensive operators book for a Whites....

Jeff Foster, not Eric Foster. Jeff never wrote a book on the V3 series.

    Can anyone identify

1977 Model. Retailed for $250 or $300 depending on the exact model. Runs at 5kHz.

    SMF

The only way to tell what's going on with MF detectors is to put the TX waveform on an oscope. And it needs to be the current waveform, not the voltage. What Gary is using doesn't work.

    SMF

The 17 & 28 frequency thing was Minelab marketing at work. All BBS/FBS models, from the first Sovereign to the CTX, use 3.125kHz and 25kHz. Here is the TX waveform: You can see that 3kHz is dominant which is why they did so well on deep silver.

    SMF

No, GB is entirely in software.

    SMF

Both. In both the Equinox and Legend the Beach modes alter the TX waveform to reduce the amount of 39kHz, and both do salt notching whereas the Park modes probably do not. In the Equinox the Prospecting mode runs entirely different frequencies (5+40 kHz).
  17. Carl-NC

    SMF

No one uses more than 3 frequencies. More frequencies means less depth, and there's little advantage in more than 3. If you did run 20, it would look like a noisy mess. Multifrequency detectors run the frequencies at harmonic relationships; the Equinox is 1:3:15, the Apex is 1:4, the V3i is...

    SMF

TX (current) waveform for the Equinox Park mode: You can see 5 broad cycles (7.8kHz) and in each broad cycle there are 5 short cycles (39kHz). What's hard to see is that there is also a 2.6kHz component. So this is a 3-frequency waveform.

    SMF

The composite signal from the RX coil is split into the 2 or 3 individual frequency components using bandpass filters. Then each frequency is demodulated and processed. For sequential MF (BBS/FBS) the bandpass filters aren't needed, the frequencies are time-demodulated. I suspect that the newer...
