    Manual & DVD

The rumor* is, that manuals are ready to go, and DVDs are imminent. If I'm not mistaken, the final manual is now posted on the White's/V3 web page. I will make an official announcement when we are ready to ship. Should be days. Send those cards in! - Carl@Whites *The rumor I'm starting right now.

    V3 reset

We did not put a global reset in the menus. The reason was concern that someone would stumble into it and accidentally wipe out all their customized settings. Then they would be mad that we put such a dangerous feature in the software! So you have to do them one at a time which, by the 3rd or...

    V-3 Compared to SE

We can make it as loud as you can tolerate, apparently. I'm told that some people now have a hearing problem because of V. - Carl

    Bottle Cap VDI's

Out of curiosity, what flavor does a Minelab have, that V3 seems to share?

    3 Frequencies, Why Not 28?

And I agree with you as well on that point. I just disagreed with your examples, and I wanted to point out to others who complain that $1495 is out-of-line that, historically, it is actually right in line. - Carl

    3 Frequencies, Why Not 28?

You are comparing apples & oranges. The Eniac was hand-built in a volume of 1 by PhD's. Today's computers are made by the millions in China. Cell phones have a completely different cost model... they're "free", but you pay through the nose to use them. Metal detectors are a super-low volume...

You can ignore all the trash and only dig the good stuff right?

If you've ever had someone come up to you and give you a hard time about hunting a public area, it's a Good Idea to have a decent handful of trash in your pouch so you can show them that you are providing a beneficial service. A few rusty nails, some nice sharp slaw, even some broken glass is...

    TX Boost

There is an exception... If your highest gain setting is limited by EMI instead of ground, then the TX boost can give a little more depth. - Carl

    TX Boost

It's worse because, for an isotropic transmitter, the round-trip signal falls off at a 6th power. Therefore, in order to double your depth, you need to transmit 64X more power. Our loops aren't isotropic so it's not quite that bad, but it ain't good, either. But it's better, because TX Boost on...

Active Analyze Screen Freezing up ???.

Analyze is a little finicky... here's what I do when it's having trouble. First, use pinpoint to locate the exact target, and make sure that there are no other close-in targets. With the coil off the target, flip to Analyze, but wait several seconds before sweeping. Do a single slow deliberate...

Help Carl or anyone V3 Question

Generally, V does pretty good with EMI, but there have been reports of areas where it just doesn't work well. Did you try adjusting frequency offset? That's the very first thing, then sensitivities, then single frequency modes. - Carl

    V3 Label

We will not have labels to cover the Vision logo. Because the box is screen printed, we also cannot reprint the logo, so those who send a Vision in for a software update will receive a Vision in return. When we made the decision to change names, a few Vision boxes were still in process, so we...

    Wireless power level

We did measurements of battery current vs transmit power level and found almost no difference between 1 & 7, so we set it conservatively.

    Do Not go by COLORS.....

In the Spectragraph screen, colors denote VDI bands, not frequency. For pinpoint & analyze screens, colors denote frequency, and most programs use green/red/blue for 2.5k/7.5k/22.5k. I think Hi-Pro and Mixed-mode Pro are different. You can assign colors any way you want (Mixed-mode Pro was...

    Sorry, a V coil won't improve DFX.

    Battery life and headphone question.

Your best bet is corded headphones, no backlight, and NiMH batteries; V should run 8-10 hours, though I haven't measure it. Yes, the WHP transmitter can be disabled. Use WHP, and you drop maybe a half-hour's time. Use the backlight, and I think you drop a couple of hours. I think alkalines run...

Speaker & Headphone on same time?

The WHP reports battery voltage back to V, and V uses that as an indicator as to whether WHPs are still active or not. It could be that you are on a noisy channel and the battery report is getting dropped often enough that V thinks that WHPs are off. So try switching to a different channel. - Carl
