    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

In software, the volume control is held in a 5-bit word. Ergo the reason it (now) goes from 38 to 69. We could have added another bit or two and increased the range that way, but then it creates the problem of transferring programs between V's with different software (one with a 5-bit volume and...

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

"Sometimes the customers do know what they want. Sometimes." We try our best to work off customer feedback. Problem with V's volume is that all of our field testers consisted of old geezers who were half-deaf to begin with, including me. In the future, I'll avoid choosing people who commonly...

EXcelerator Search Coil on the V3.

The best thing is to take them to a dealer and try them out. My 12" Excelerator works fine, even though it is not nulled nearly as well as our factory loops. - Carl

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

As an end-user myself, I also like the idea of easy updates. However, White's, like probably every other detector manufacturer, is not especially warm to the idea of easy software updates. Our market is so small compared to other software-related markets that what obviously works well for say...

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

You understand, of course, that free updates don't pay our wages. If, at some point in the future, we build a detector that is user-updateable, we will need to follow some kind of software model where you pay for updates, and least of the non-bug-fix variety. And the update firmware you get...

I think so.. AK can say for sure.

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

We are not rebadging any instruments, even if someone asks for it. - Carl

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

We are working on a USB dongle that will allow you to transfer custom program settings to & from the PC. It is not viable to use this for programming the micros, it is way too slow for that. Beyond that, there are 3 micros in V and one more in the headphones; in the audio fix, ferinstance, we...

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

Yes, all new V3's are being produced with v1.1 software, including imminent UK models. I'm pleased to say that we have passed emissions testing* and will be building units for the UK ASAP. - Carl * We only use unleaded fuel for low emissions

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

Sorry this has taken so long, but here is the "official notice" on the volume fix: [HR] "Whites has adjusted the volume range of Spectra-Sound headphones in response to the small percentage of Vision/V3 owners who find the minimum target volume uncomfortable. This adjustment allows the Target...

    Sunray DX-1

Probably not in the draft. Spectragraph is just a new version of Signagraph that displays individual frequency info simultaneously, instead of as a composite. - Carl

    Sunray DX-1

"I pressed and held the trigger to the rear for depth, it's a bit of a nusiance to hold it while sweeping the hole and plug." There is a Better Way. Pull the trigger, press/hold ENTER, release the trigger, release ENTER... V will "lock" in Pinpoint mode (you will even see "Lock" on the screen)...

    Back ordered

It is due both to the name change and the need to fix the volume problem. We are back in full production and trying to catch up. I will post a statement on the volume fix, probably later today. - Carl

    Spectra V3?

Yes, we highly recommend that everyone who bought a "Vision" should put it away as a collectible, and go buy a new "V3".

Attention Whites or other coil builders

A Good Idea for BFO or PI. Bounty Hunter (the Olde), Garrett, and White's have all made such coils. But induction balance is far, far more difficult, and not practical. - Carl

    is carl from north carolina

I'm also an ex-Floridian, Tallahassee. Went to FSU, hence my custom V with the "Garnet & Gold" paint job, and the "Garnet & Gold" color theme in Mixed-Mode Pro. - Carl

My Minelab Blows the Vision Away for Depth

Thanks for the kind words, but I am not the "chief engineer," I'm just the engineering manager. I consider other folks here to be our chief engineers, and they are quite good. Keep in mind that some of the most successful detector designs came from non-hunters. George Payne, Dave...

DFX Big Foot on the "V"

On the Bigfoot, everything at 22.5k is shifted high, so high conductors are wrapping around to iron. But since silver coins hit harder on 2.5k, the 3F VDI still reads right for them. And the low conductors (gold) that hit hard on 22.5k are reading high VDIs. This may be a useful side effect, or...
