    I found this blade metal detecting a civil war camp, does anyone know if this could be time period? I found it about 6 inches in the ground.

    It just has that weathered look. I see your coil in the pic and also assume its as found, no dirt, not much rust, with visible pitting. Looks like one of those horseshoes I find hanging on tree branches.

    The best way, right here. Originally made by Deteknix, now Quest, made specifically for metal detectors. Great headphones I've been using for a few years now on a couple of my detectors. Charge lasts for a full day of detecting with no target response delay.

    9" round HF coil gets my vote, I hunt for the same and really like using the medium freq. My secondary coil is the 13" X35 on sites where the signals aren't too busy, impressive depth with this one.
