    Yes I also owned one for dry sand beach hunting....... great coverage....... pinpoints very good (for a big coil) because it's a concentric coil.........was Nose heavy on the V& did not like a high gain/sensitivity settings .......... HH Rob

    Only use The salt beach program for the wet sand Hunting and use the coin & Jewelry program for the Dry sand hunting ......Also when wet sand hunting always try to be facing Towards The water so no surprise waves hits you and turns your V3I into a paper weight.

    The polar plot is used to ID Iron ......Nothing more.....The V3I has such a incredible discrimination features for Iron .....( stock programs) The polar Plot is kinda waste of time on the V3I.... wish some of The other Detectors out there had a polar plot.

    The VX3 is the monkey's elbow or eyebrow:shrug:

    The Stock coil on any Trashy hunt site (even a moderate trash site) will lead to frustration :thumbdown: The 5.3 or 4x6 Coils will make The Trashy Hunt sites a more enjoyable hunt. :thumbup:

    What boggles my mind is that used VX3's are selling pretty darn close to The used V3I's

    Which coil do you like better on the V3i, the D2 or Eclipse 950?

    Also The 950 is a larger coil , But The D2 will cover more ground than the 950 because of the DD design.
