    Narrow signals

If the silver coin was that little, it may be a very (very) early Greek coin....before mankind jumped to fiat coinage? (Have a weight on that thing?) Silver coinage went from the rare decadracma, tetradrachma, on down to tiny coins that were a dimiutive porportion of the obol......."size of a G...

    Falsing (repost)

Great explanation Rob! If I could ad.....black or mineralized sand between your coil and coil cover. (I've been caught on this one!)

Can someone tell me why People buy the SEF coils over the Whites??

Big fact about coils is there is no "better". Just more appropriate.

    Max performance' 10DD program

It's all about your own soil and some of those adjustments are "too core" to use as a generic starting point. (My soil is similar to his and they do work in some places, but not all.)

What coil would be best to use for ancient copper?

If you are ready for a big coil, my 12" concentric has been landing me small copper and silver from 20-25cm. (I'd defiitely would use a coil cover because of the course volcanic silica in spots.)

    Lead id"s as silver:help:

I'd just say don't ever "not dig" a particular signal type unless you've found it to be a "dump" for something you've already dug and don't want. As much as lead was used for low value things, during the earliest years it was sometimes used as something to protect things of "high value" or serve...

    VX3 & Small Silver Coins.

I'm up here in the Pacific NW and find Canadian "5 Cent Silvers"....can't be much different?

Fun finds and a growing ring collection

Congrats! Part of my duties at work is testing for gold purity levels in all kinds of objects (including jewelry). Once a gold object's purity starts diminishing, it becomes more and more open to discoloration if exposed to "nasties" in a "closed" environment especially. (Pure gold only has...

Thinking of trading down to MXT Pro from my VX3?

Whatever your comfortable with is the only consideration you should have. (Just curious why you are "not" with the VX3?) Each of us are different and even though I am with the more avanced Whites machines, "I get" how using knobs can be good for some folks. The MXT is actually a digital machine...

    Coil Size is everything

It's been a long time since I've had that depth or needed it. The areas I've been doing have had some old targets but not deep and all annihilated by traffic and gravel. Your making me want to go back to a spot that had deep and easy digging loam.....it was coughing up a lot of decent wheats and...

    Lead id"s as silver:help:

Oh I just realized the type of nail you were finding! My father in law had a house that had a copper roof with the leading lead edges wrapping over into internal wood gutters and the valleys'. I was involved in coodinating the restoration and remember looking and finding those in NOS in a...

    Lead id"s as silver:help:

There are all kinds of signals that reveil a target to be "out of character" for what they end up being. Shape or orientation can do it as can something being exposed to some naturally occuring/man made acidic condition. The good thing to realize is those targets can be isolated and you will...

What coil would be best to use for ancient copper?

A bigger coil is most definitely a main coil for you but by the time you figure in all the fertilizer/mineralization and natural......other approaches are what will bring in an increased find count besides ones concerning depth. By all means maxing out learning a big coil is a huge deal in...

Are the stock programs good enough?

No....stock programs are not "good enough". But.......they are perfect to learn and start your "own learning" because they are designed to be as easy as possible for what their intent is, and.....produce well right out of the gate.My main job is not "selling" detectors as my skill set is more...

What coil would be best to use for ancient copper?

Thing with ancient coins is they are on their way to becoming soil! Your challenge is to look for "enomolies" (iffy targets) and keep an eye out for "uphill" raises/hills hard to plant w/more of a chance of metal to be in a nicer condition. Another thing is to get into any areas where dirt is...

    NEW PINPOINTER

I'm excited for Whites on this one. (They work hard and true.)

    Coil Size & Application

To add a bit on some coil use priorities. 1. 4x6 along chain link. 2. 5.3 on rough hillsides, under bushes, around bumpy root systems, and in high EMI parking strips. (Use TX Boost.) 3. Big coils in thick loamy ground with low mineralization........no excuse to not find some amazing things.

    Coil Size is everything

Best way to perceive ground is to think of it as being always changing. (It doesn't, but what we're doing walking our gear over it does.) Everyone misses great finds no matter what you use or how proficient you are.....patience while learning dirt, your machine, and yourself is what yields...

    NEW PINPOINTER

I've been asking about launch times for a while now and they aren't going to push it out the door until it's ready. Early "guessing" does no one any good and know for a fact it will be worth looking forward too. (Wouldn't stop me from getting a pinpointer if I needed one though.....too important...

What coil would be best to use for ancient copper?

Ancient bronze at depth would probably mostly be down low on the VDI scale depending on size. (AE 3/4s' from the later Roman period.) Larger module ass/duponis/sesterci would ring up into higher more solid number scatters. Coil size needed would vary depending on what the history of the soil...
