    Learning curve for v3i

Bud....your approach is what it is all about at each step for us all as you realize how far you've come in chunks......and THAT is a treasure in and of itself.

    Why rename programs.

I have programs stored to the point that I do need a reminder on what it is for. Most of them are for searching for specific items in difficult situations though and don't bother much with my main use programs. Aluding to Yt's "messing up the machine" in some peoples minds....I agree and just...

Nice find today..... worth a $1000?

If you could post a pic out of the 2x2 and in good light, I could give you a hand with this one....looks like the ground may have been kiond to this one too.

Why some hate and love the V3i?

The V3i is as turn on and go as anything else with more options.....once you learn it a little bit and yourself a lot.

Why some hate and love the V3i?

I've been detecting for a long time and can easily say the V3i is the most versatile detector I have ever used. Like Rob inferred....if you can move around on a computer or these forums, can "stand firm" on what you've learned to grow further, this machine will have you going places others...

Super 12 or stock 10 dd

There is no "better" between these two for a changed situation.(More all around now.....10" DD by a very large margin.)

Small Coil , Which one is the best?

If you do a lot of hilly/bumpy spots, parking strips (w/EMI above your head),and tree roots....hands down the 5.3. (No "second most important"....most important here.) This coil will either get you into places you can't go with another coil, or make pinpointing quick on uneven ground and in...

Best coil for relic hunting in a field

I have a spot where the Super 12" is king. (Funny thing is my second most used coil there is the little 5.3). Household type targets like thimbles, buttons and coins show up in patches and the separation the 5.3 gives is nice here and use a cup rod without even taking off my control rods (for the...

How good is the V3i for finding gold nuggets?

I've used the V3i for nugget hunting and it does a decent job. Thing is though that with your time being the real commodity out there....no substitute for a dedicated gold machine on a "real" gold hunt. Gaines Creek has some real lunkers but still most are small and the higher frequency does...

Why the icons are just for american hunting?

There are huge complications in making icons for the huge diversity of coins (in coins) other than over here in the states. Our coins mostly stay with traditional compositions (at least close) that go way back into the 19th century. (Our modern coins stayed the course in metalic signiture for...

    People...sometimes I hate them.

I hunt with everything....except idiots. You know though....people like that are an exception and not the rule so you can't get too worked up. You just have to face the fact that pigs are out there and the further you can stay away from them the better. (Bet I'd stomp him with my Classic III...

    6x10dd or 10dd

You said "heavy trash". All three coils mentioned have an aspect that lends itself to this but.......for me it would be the 5.3 also. (This coil is also a go to coil for rough hillsides and the brush.) You will be needing a DD too......I'd just get a 5.3 first.

    V3i

If you have them both you may have a tendency to fall back to the DFX...I did. Once I started to truly learn the new machine all that was over...force yourself to stick mostly with the V3i and only use the DFX if you are a ways from home and your in a hot spot. (That will change soon enough.)

    Wireless Headphone interferring???

Call Whites with this one. (Nothing seems right.)

I Need Some Answers On The VX3

The filtering type we are all talking about here is for adjusting for ground types while each has strengths/weaknesses for different types of targets. The VX3 uses the "calmest reacting" ones to these varying ground types and these 2 alone do a great job when compared to the V3i's 4 filter...

    Learning the language.

I find it so funny that I was just giving you encouragement in another posting and then went to this! Guy......your past all the "beginner hand holding"! (Your on track to be teaching all of us a trick or two with your attitude alone.) A long belated WELCOME to you! :surprised: You go Boy! (I...

    Where is the book?

We all were hoping for a book that never came to fruition like the GREAT "Digging Deeper with the DFX"/ for V3i too!!! Some others have made some sounds of "thinking about" writing one but not expecting anything. (Funny thing is picking up that book and re-reading it has triggered a lot of V3i...

    Bad Day

Like Rob said.....those bottle caps are an easy "figurin" and his smaller coil suggestion is a wise logical next step too! The V3i is (IMHO) easier than the DFX once you get it to click.....all the adjustments are easier to get to and interact very predictably so you can spank into a quick...

    Spectra V3 / V3i / VX3 from 6000 di pro analog detector info

My two main use machines are the 6000 Di/Pro and the V3i. Without a doubt both are "it" and used for different reasons with the 6000 being mainly a "day finisher". Switching to analog does something to relax me after all the digital audio and that "fresh feeling" (and the basic audio) puts more...
