    After the race

We are all so tuned to "looking down"?!!!! (Nice $20!) Just a note here......scan those parking lot shrubs as your going into a store.....very well designed "bill catchers". Congrats on a memorable outing!

    First VX3 Ring

Nice 1rst ring! Yup, she looks a little rough but you can do a lot to straighten her up by putting it on a metal ring ferl to reshape, mineral oil to enhance color, and a metal polishing. Not much you can do about the eroded stone but hey....it's your "first" and that is the important thing...

    Recovery delay

This relationship between filters and recovery delay (speed) is one that is so fundamental. Once you've played with it some (Test gardens RULE in learning this relationship.) it not only means better depth but also better ID in all depth ranges.....and at times a "bad setting/balance" (between...

    Nice Coin Spill

My first gold coin was from a sidewalk edge. (A lawnmower "loved" Mexican 2 1/2 Peso.) Note: Those sidewalks are a very important indicator as to how much "ground build" there is from original grade level. (Grass clippings, an "over-sod", dusty environment, and especially use of manure for...

    Nice Coin Spill

That 22-D was a nice topper.....and niiiiice! Why is it so many of these kinds of finds are as we are walking to our rigs? (Divine intervention from the detecting gods I say!) Yup...big congrats on some great copper!

    R & B Li-ion Batteries

Heck, if I wasn't set up with the factory set-up, already set up fifty thousand ways from Sunday, packed in/traveled a lot.....I'd probably step up and get that set-up. (That system does fit your needs perfectly Andy.) I really dislike using batteries that end up in landfills or have to go...

    Riverbank ring

Silver rings.....think I might be able to remember every one I've ever found....can't say that about silver coin! Nice find!

How good is the v3i for gold prospecting?

Kudos Jaton. I remember answering a post with roughly "so it can't be a true substitute for a gold machine." and was jumped on by some serious Australians who were using it as a prospecting machine. I still think that if your hunting is for gold only, get one of those but......there is something...

    A little chilly but

    That is too funny!

    Beach hunting local lake

I tend to do most of my hunting in these kinds of places and this info is solid, solid, solid Steve. (Lowering sensitivities and coil selection is where it is at too!) In addition to this....secondary areas like observation knolls, slopes with a good view of the beach and sports areas, grassy...

    A little chilly but

That was definitely worth a chilly hunt! (Good goin' and hopefully close enough for you to get back to soon?) What type of settings did you run in that situation? Cool and congrats on some fun finds.....and that date of Indian is no slouch.

    V3I

This whole discussion reaffirms a basic "truth"....appreciating that learning "the basics" are where we start our personal process, learn the machine and all it's details, then we all come back to prioritizing our time with basics. (The fact that Monte's honest appraisal has a Classic and V3i as...

    alcatraz!!

I suspected it to be a "tourist piece" (I see so many things like this that are at our shop.) and major kudos to you that it isn't!!!! What a cool chunk of history to have been waiting for you to find!

I must say the Factory V3i is much improved over the original "Vision " Model

It just runs so much more smooth.....2nd that Larry.

My Best V3i Find Is Now Certified Genuine!

Hey Neil, Glad your coin came back and as genuine.....never a question by anyone around here! I sell a lot of Early American Coinage and as time goes on, supply gets put in long term holdings, more people concentrate on these types of coins, and demand is forcing prices up on attractive coins...

    New To This Site

"Sweep Speed" was old nomenclature that oversimplified to the point of not giving a full understanding of adjustments. This new way of naming things is much "truer" to what these adjustments do and how they interact with each other. Mo betta.
