    It was slim Pickings....but.....:cam:

There was 14k in those slim Pickings....Hit the Ocean first at about 4pm for LT. Wind was blowing the swell down but the surf was 5' so the wet sand would have to do(as usual). The pickings were slim, with only a few coins, a 50cal. bullet and a couple pieces of melted tin. Scored the ring in an...

    Not a good Night.....

Went back to the beach last night. 2230 for a 0100 LT. the cut from the prior night was still there, but it was collapsing. Started my run w/ the Excal. There was a definite absence of targets. The beach was clearly sanding in. Large rises of loose sand were forming as the tide receded. I went...

    Finally......

Hit the beach last night about 2300 for a 0015 LT. We had a mini Nor'easter yesterday. Surf was about 6'. It's a south facing beach. We had ENE winds most of the day 15mph gusting to about 25mph. HT was about 1800 and the storm was pushing the tide up about 1' above normal. It was still raining...

Back to the Sod (Button) farm...

Went back to the sod farm for a few hours today using the EXII with the Coiltek 250mm elliptical. Picked up five more buttons, a Georgius II halfpence(not sure of date yet) and a 1928 wheatie(it sure took a beating). They may be seeding this week, so I got my work cut out for me.... <img...

Hung up the Excal for the Day.....

Had the itch to find something, and since the beach wasn't providing, I pulled out my EXII and hit the dirt, with good results.... 4 old buttons, and a 1734 British 1/2 Pence. Hopefully this weekend will provide for me and the Excal.... HH, Keith The Finds....

    Hung Up My Excal....

For the day. Haven't been doing too well at the beach, So I decided to hit terra firma for a bit. Spent about 2 hours hunting a local sod farm, that I have done well at in the past. Started with a Quarter, but got better after that. My hunt yeilded 4 old buttons, and a 1734 British 1/2 Pence...

    Just some Coin :(

Hit the Ocean today 0530 for a 0730 .2L, the whole beach to myself. Went right to the lane in front of the bathing pavillion. Started working from the top of the high tide line, right thru the wet sand, and into the surf, no targets. The remnants of a cut from a few days ago when we were seeing...

    Excal NiMH Packs...

Anyone know why Batteries Plus doesn't make a replacement NiMH pack, but only replaces the cells on an existing pack. Do the packs contain a voltage regulator or something of the sort? Regards, Keith

Tried my hand on the beach today.....

Broke down and hit a local beach for about an hour w/ my EXII. Tide was low, but surf was too high. The beach has actually been filled instead of stripped. Started finding a few junk targets back from the shore line. Got a couple clad, some melted lead, a few tabs, and some junk jewelry. Never...

    New Location... My New Project.....

Got out today to scout a new location. The site is an old camp for disadvantaged boys, opening in 1903, and operating until about the 1960's. It is estimated that about 150,000 boys attended this camp during that time. It's a large site, and all the structures are long gone. My first attempt was...

    Excal 800 or 1000?

Was planning on getting my feet wet soon, and was hoping that some Excal users would weigh in on there preference. I am not too concerned about trash, so a smaller coil isn't an issue in that respect. I was more concerned with users experience with regard to sensitivity to smaller targets, not...

(sod was harvested :) )Need to spend more time picking the crust off that IH. Got the 1925 Buffalo and...

    Nova Scotia Token and Button

Found this Nova Scotia half-penny token and this collar brass today at an old Church. I don't think the collar brass is too old. (It has a threaded back) If anyone could help ID it, I would appreciate it.

    A First! (for Me)

Got out for the first time in a few weeks since the weather turned cold here. Took my hunting partner to a new site I found reviewing some old maps. Finally found the remnants of the foundations. Tons of trash. He found an 1860 IH in nice condition. I got nothing. (It figures). Left him after a...

Well I hit a new site tonight. Had about an hour after work to hit an old homesite dating to the early 1800's.
