    Found some old employee tags

I found these at my dad's place. Both were in the same hole. At first I noticed that they were larger than a quarter but smaller than a half and got excited thinking they might be large cents. No such luck but neat finds just the same. FYI...The Bethlehem Steel Co. in Bethlehem, PA has been...

    Happy Anniversary

Oddly enough, I just read this on the Garrett History page: Charles Garrett establishes his company on April 1, 1964

    metal detectors for less .com

Has anyone ever done buisness with this company? They're selling the GTI 1500 for $600 and free shipping which is quite a bit less than I've seen it anywhere else. Just wondering if they're reputable or should be avoided. Thanx, Steve in PA

    wartime nickle composition?

Hi all, I hit my brothers rental property again, what a difference a change in soil conditions can make. The ground here in PA is just thawed enough to dig without chiseling. I found a 1945 P nickle that Coinfacts lists as wartime composition. Can someone tell me the difference between...

    Custom mode VS. specific mode

If I set up a custom mode with the same discrimination notches as a specific mode, let's say jewelry mode, are the exactly the same or is there technology built into jewelry mode that is not present in custom. GTAX 750 Thanks in advance, Steve in PA

    First ring!--Sterling silver?

I found my first ring yesterday at the old homeplace again. When it rains it really does pour. It was filthy and at first I figured it for a gold plated wedding band with the plating worn off. I know I'll get blasted for this but I cleaned all of the crud and tarnish off with light steel wool...

    Walking at the old homeplace

A little while back I entered a post about the old homeplace and how I hadn't been successful there, the one place where I desperately wanted to make a noteworthy find. I'd like to thank everyone who responded to that post for their sound advice and encouragement again. Today, like most days...

    First Barber - 1905s

Today my daughter and I hunted my brother's rental property which is currently unoccupied. We found a little clad, a little junk, and a little silver beauty!

I could sure use some help,

I have gone over the front yard of the place where I grew up several times and have found only a 1967 quarter and a few pennies. Today I found a kids bracelet but it only looks to be about 10 years or so old. This place was built in the late 1800's and I just can't imagine that nothing was...

    Spillver?

Could this be the term for a spill of silver? Two holes in very close proximity yielded both standings and the merc. The silver Roo was found a bit farther away but at the same depth. This was my best day ever! I get so electrified when I find silver, I'm surprised it doesn't set the detector...

    Certainly not a haul but....

Any silver day is a good day. I love the way silver comes out of the ground as white as the day it went in. I found this one around 2.5 inches under where a wash line once was.

    Battery life & efficiency

Is a unit less efficient when battery life has dropped off to half or lower, or does it operate the same throughout? Thanks in advance, Steve in PA

    Can anyone indentify this?

I have no clue what this is. It has casting mold lines down opposite sides and I am certain that it's lead. It's almost hollow except for a divider at the most narrow part which forms a small cup at the top. Enlighten me. Steve in PA

    In need of a comparisn

Hello all, After wanting a metal detector for some time now and having my eye on a white's MXT, I've just been loaned a GTAx 750 by a good friend. He bought it new and gave up on detecting rather quickly so it's brand new. I'm hoping there's some one here that can give me an unbiased comparison...
