    Two more missing date mercs.

I need ten more dates to complete my "dug merc date set" I found the "26 yesterday and the "29 this morning. Both were dates that I didn't already have.

    Twin mercs

Being in Eastern Pennsylvania I don't find many mercs with mintmarks. This morning I found two 1919's, one D and one S. Both are worn pretty hard. HH

    Cheap homemade tumbler

Hey guys, Just wanted to share with you the tumbler that I just put together. The drive is obviously a motor from an ice cream maker. I also epoxied three agitators inside the container. It seems to churn the gravel and coins very efficiently. I don't know if the video link is going to work. tumble

    StandingS in the park.

Had another great morning in the park with a 1917 merc and a 1928s SLQ. The Explorer never fails to satisfy.

    2 fun sized Halloween silvers

I tried to hunt the areas where the snow was melted off which didn't leave a whole lot of room but I did manage some treats. I also got tricked by an 11 inch screw cap.

Super silver morning in the park.

I went back to one of the first places in the park where I found silver and just under the outer boughs of a small pine tree I got a good hit, it was a "62 Rosie. About two feet away I got a good deep quarter hit, it turned out to be a "44 merc. I was more than happy with it but was hoping for...

    Nice hunt today

I hit the park this morning after a 12 hour shift and had a blast. I rescued seven wheats and one had a no date buff in the hole with it. I also found my first dollar coin, it hit just like a quarter, dead on 00 29. Also found a sterling boy scout ring and a 1919 merc. That's my 40'th silver...

    Yesterday's trio from the park.

I hunted for about three hours. Nothing to write home about but silver is silver.

First gold with the Explorer :smoke:

Spent a week in Cape May, NJ and hit the beach every day. Signals were few and far between but I lucked out and found a 10k wedding band. The larger ring, I believe, was a plated over silver. After I cleaned the black crust away there was a grayish layer, a barrier metal as I understand it, and...

    Silver, newer & older

I hit the park this morning and found a couple keepers. 1946 & 1900 dimes. This puts me at 35 silver coins for the year and 102 total for three and a half years of detecting. I didn't mean for my last post to be misleading, I doubt I'll ever do a hundred in one season.

    Milestone reached...100th silver coin

I know this is a year's total for some folks but not where I live. I never thought it would happen this year but the last three weeks have been very productive and I've been hitting silver almost every time out. I was hoping for something a little more prestigious than a merc for the 100th but...

Another great find in the park this morning.

No date, Draped Bust large cent, counterstamped Yesterdays honey hole was getting mowed so I wandered to a different spot, I'm glad I did. I love finding large cents and this one is special. The stamp reads(top line) P. D (middle line) J DEMUTH (Bottom line) WARRANTED It is listed on...

A stellar morning in the park, big silver & more

The 1916 merc is NOT a D mintmark :rage: But the walker is. The I.H. is 1895. I found all of these in just under an hour and a half. I felt so "in the zone" that I didn't want to quit but I had to. Steve in PA

2 silver day in the park

Aside from the usual clad I rounded up a six pack of wheats and two fine ladies. The first merc was straight up on edge and only hinted at a coin signal, the second was loud and clear. It was actually hitting more like a quarter but I was not at all disappointed.

scored a nice old button yesterday

I'm guessing this is from a mid 1800's officers uniform. It's two piece with an old school shank.

    I've had worse days...

Spent yesterday without power for about 16 hours, compliments of Irene. This morning I hit a well known grove where I've never found anything but clad until now. I knew this place was old enough to produce some keepers and today was my day to find them. The Barber and injun, both 1905, were in...

Scratched another one off the list this morning.

I've been detecting an historic grove, that's adjacent to our local park, off and on for about three years now with only two IH's to show for it. Gatherings in this grove date back to the late 18'th century. Last week I found my first silver there, it was a 1904 Barber dime so, newly inspired, I...

    Silver from bone dry ground

My pal Charlie and I hit a nice old park today but the ground was very dry which made the SE a little chatty but I did manage a few clads and the only silver between us. Charlie actually beat me on dates with a 1912 wheatie.
