    A question about conductive readings.

Why do silver dollars read lower on the conductive axis than halves, and halves lower than quarters? I would think more mass would produce a greater conductive value. Layman's terms if you can or it'll probably go right over my head. Thanx.

    Mega-feeder

The house I live in was originally a one room school house called Warren school. Built in 1842 it was operational for 115 years until it closed it's doors in 1957. Keeping with the tradition of the old school house I built this mega feeder as a christmas gift for my wife. It holds 40 pounds of...

    Andy's books

Andy's first explorer book was out of stock so I couldn't put it on my christmas list. Does the explorer/Etrac book pick up where the first book left off? Is the second book helpful even after you think you've got the hang of it? and does it make any sense if you haven't read the first one...

    For the past two weeks....

I've been averaging one large cent every Saturday. I found this one at the homeplace where I grew up. I really stepped in it today.

    My first passion (OFF TOPIC)

I've been detecting for three years but I've been practicing falconry for about fifteen. Detecting season is winding down but very soon me and my partner here will go hunt for things more furry and less metallic. He's a juvenile red tailed hawk, about 6 or 7 months old. He's still in training...

1/2 hour hunt yields my second large cent.

I was very pressed for time this morning so I hit a friends place, close to home, where I had found several silvers in the past. He told me that his mother used to mention a colonial era log cabin on the property. No silvers today but I got an 1826 large cent. I'm thinking this place deserves...

    I've been so lucky lately...

Yesterday morning I hit a local park and found a merc and a 63 D rosie. This morning I went to relatives rental property that I've pounded to death, I don't know how I missed this one in the past but I'm grateful for not having missed it this time. This is the tenth silver I've found there but...

First BIG silver with the SE

A friend of mine turned me on to a park in a neighboring town where he had found a few silvers in the past. We only had an hour or so to hunt but I think I made the best of it.

Hoping to trade 1921 Peace Dollar...

For a one dollar U.S. gold coin. I'm no collector so if this trade is out of the question please don't be afraid to say so. I'm interested in an older style coin but date and mint mark don't really matter, as long as it's U.S. and gold. Again, I'm no collector but I know this is one of the more...

    Sweet little merc

I thought for sure I was digging my third wheat for the day when this gal popped out. It's one of the nicer mercs I've found. It also made this my best silver coin count year ever but I'm not going to embarrass myself by giving the numbers. Silver is scarce in my neighborhood and I'm happy with...

    Any Ideas?

A friend of mine dug this. The coin is for size reference. The whatzit is dated 1877 - 1882.

    Good news back East:clapping:

Here in Pennsylvania we've been working the dry ground for most of the summer............But not any more !!

Another good day in the park.

I found a place where a lot of the coins seem consistent with the parks early days. Found two more silvers, a half dozen wheats and a little clad.

Finally had a little luck this morning.

Our local park only dates back to the late twenties so oldies are an extreme rarity. It's been detected by everyone and their brother so even modern silvers are far and few between but every once in a while it gives up a little surprise.

Worn out King George in the park.

    Pretty sure it's a KG3 half penny. 17?? date.

This is a long shot but...

Any ideas? At first I thought it looked military but now I'm not so sure. No markings on either side. Had a pin back that fell off.

    Remains of a merc.

This is by far the worst silver coin I've ever found. I'm wondering if it was tossed into a campfire? No date and the reverse isn't much better. I found a 1942 quarter about six feet from this coin and it was in mint condition, compared to this one.

    A couple decent relics

Found a nice suspender clip, a small flat button (slightly larger than a penny) and a couple wheats. The wheats are still fooling me, they have such a sweet pitch I thought for sure I was digging a silver coin.
