Another nice relic from the old homeplace

I'm down to digging just about every target above iron at my dad's place. I usually dig lots of square nails and junk but today must have been a bonus day. I found a civil war coat or cuff button. It has a crack in it but I'd rather have a cracked one than none at all. I have no idea of who this...

    Finds from Ocean City, Maryland

No silver, no gold, just a small pile of clad, two toy cars, a pull tab, an aluminum kiddie ring, and the best find of all.......a jewel encrusted red purse bookmark. Now how pathetic is that? [attachment 137158 SDC10472.JPG] I did have fun detecting the beach though and with very little...

2 more injuns and a merc

Went back to that same site where I found the five IH's and found 2 more (and this is as clean as they're gonna get.) Also found a merc, probably the nicest one I've ever found. I also found a token that says T. coals on it the back has writing too but is hard to make out.

    Possible problem with my 2500?

On these very hot days the longer I hunt in the sun the more I keep getting overload signals. Is this normal or do I have a problem? I've tried lowering the sensetivity way down and changing freqencnies but it doesn't make a difference. I don't put my detector in the car until I'm ready to...

Five indians today thanks to Charlie

Got my first indian today and then four more! I owe these finds to my good friend Charlie. He did all the research on this site, got permission for both of us to hunt and invited me along long before the placed was picked over. I could not ask for a better hunting partner. Like an IDIOT, I...

    Annual falconry picnic

The lighter colored falcons are gyr X saker hybrids. The darker falcon is a peregrine and the very dark colored bird is a harris' hawk. The last shot of the falcon looking skyward is the best. Enjoy, Steve

Braving the heat pays off....a little.

Snuck in two quick hunts today. The first at a relatives home produced 3 memorial pennys and a heavy little horse with no legs. His name is Lieutenant Dan. Then I headed back to my Dad's place and found a junker pin and a nice little '57 Rosie/

    unidentified metal

A few days ago i dug this small slab of metal, it looked like a hunk of melted lead but it was too hard. Today I hit it with a hammer until it broke in half and it has this really funky pattern to it. Anybody have any ideas? I don't think its a meteorite but perhaps someone tried to melt down a...

    Please be seated

I've been asking this of almost every coin I've dug since I started swinging and at long last Miss Liberty is in the house, a little worn but I'll take her. The real icing on the cake though is that I found this coin at the old homeplace. Finally, a coin that reflects the age of an 1845...

    1700's British copper..........

and I'm doin' the Hap, Hap, Happy dance:hot: The date is gone as is most of the raised lettering except for G V I S The bust outline matched one that a friend of mine had found and the reverse matched as well. I don't want to risk cleaning it but what can I do to preserve what's left. Any...

12 cents and my second gold ring:jump:

I went back to my brother's rental property, where I found my first gold ring, and scored another. [attachment 133499 kidsring-1.jpg] I noticed right away that it was a kids ring but was pleased to see the 10K mark inside. [attachment 133500 kidsring-2.jpg] And best of all, it fits my very happy...

    I LIKE THE PARK :jump:

I went to the Boro Park today and I was not disappointed. I found a '57 Roosie, my second buffalo nickel, a huge religious medallion and some clad. The fabled old grounds keeper who smokes a pipe and has reportedly run people off for detecting was buzzing all around me on the mower but never...
