Tracker wore my butt off today....:stars:

Most of the coins were 1-2" but a few dimes were at 3" and a couple of nickels at 2" So I'm figuring I've got the first 4" at any site. Learned by accident that turning the sensitivity down helped on signals -I shoulda figured that out as my other detectors suffer from the ground feedback.

A little note on the Tracker....

I've used the Tracker in competition hunts with good success. I was hunting at my usual clip and noticed the nickels and some deeper coins either left a "scratch" sound in the speaker or a "click". I started hunting at a casual pace as the area was mineralized and the coin ratio shot up...

Back to the Tracker-long, ranting post...

Well, I had just about decided to get the White's M6, then I vacillated back and forth on the Tesoro Golden umax or the Tejon. Then Mike Hillis had me thinking about the F5. Well, today I was at Academy and saw the Teknetics Delta for $279 and after all of Monte's posts on Teknetics, my mouth...

Just got a boost from reading other forums...

I know everyone usually feels this way-maybe I need an id machine, maybe I'm missing something. Then I start reading the other forums-try it. They're filled with posts about id problems and the usual solution is beep-dig. Then I sit back and smile about my little Compadre and Silver umax.

Would appreciate advice from Vaq users...

I'm hearing good reports on the 10X12" coil for my Silver umax, but I also know that gb is important and the Vaquero has rave reviews. Should I get the coil or the Vaq? I have been struggling for 3 months between the Tejon, the 10X12" coil, the Golden umax, or the Vaq. I want to go deep for a...

    M6

Getting ready to retire. Looked at a lot of different detectors. I like the M6 setup. I'm a tones guy and I'm ready to get a little more depth than my present entry level detectors. This is one sweet looking detector and I don't think I search areas where I need a $1000 detector. Anyone have one?

    Compadre finds another gold ring....

Well, I almost grabbed my Silver umax, but decided to go the trashier route with the Compadre just set above iron reject. As I was digging trash after trash, I got a broken signal and said "trash". Wrong! 10k gold ring with pearl setting in the middle and maybe two diamonds on the side-pretty...

Snipey and the Flying Ace...the adventure continues...

Well, in our last adventure, the "Sopwith 250" had full wingspan, but the Red Baron was hiding in the trashiest places, so Snipey flew this mission. It started at the usual parks and only parts that were already filthy and corroded were found of the Red Baron. And then, sounds like the...

    Flying Ace strikes again!..:cam:

Well, everyone who reads this forum knows that the faster you sweep the Ace, up to a point, the deeper it goes. So I just set mine at 2-3 bars sensitivity and pretend I'm at a competition hunt-the "Flying Ace" Well, the kids have been outside for a couple of weeks, so it was time to take the...

Will the Ace find gold rings......:cam:

Oh yeah! This 0ne's kinda special. I was only in 2 bars sensitivity so I wouldn't dig deep screwcaps, I had also switched to my custom mode-which is nothing more than the coins mode with the foil icon added. Also, I had been hunting 2 days with the battery at 3 bars and right before I found it I...

    Quick hunt with Compadre:cam:

Went to a school tot-finally a day off. The kids are starting to get outside. That's a magnet on the top right-weird signal. The bottom left quarter was a reddish iron color and even gave a sort of skip on the signal, even at the lowest iron setting. Probably why it was missed. Boy, this thing...

Me and Compadre will hit the papers....

Was excited and a little surprised today. Got tired of all the tones and ID and went with my Compadre to the city park and was hitting the coins like crazy when this guy steps up and says "Pardon me, but I'm with the (local newspaper) and have an assignment to get pics of what people are doing...

    Well, it's almost spring here.....:cam:

Visited one of my regular schools in another town--and they had been closed down and being rebuilt in other locations! About 8 of them! As I was hunting, an administrator drove up in a school vehicle and said that he was concerned about any digging, as schools NOW have fiber optic cables buried...

    :clsoedeyes:Gotta know about the Spectra....

Me, too. It means that I need to quit daydreaming, stick with what I have, and just work hard at it. As one guy said, "it's not the detector, it's the detector."

    :clsoedeyes:Gotta know about the Spectra....

I appreciate everyone's responses. I thought maybe the polar plot, NOT the VDI would help in deciding if the target had an aluminum content target. I have to think seriously about a $1,000 because I'm mostly a totlotter and also have a few areas that have a lot of trash. That being said, I'm...

    :clsoedeyes:Gotta know about the Spectra....

Yeah, I've lived with that for years. I just hoped the graph would show a higher reading on the reflectivity of aluminum similar to some less capable detectors showing a higher or lower VDI number. And I hoped that since one of the frequencies was more sensitive to this that it would show on the...

    :clsoedeyes:Gotta know about the Spectra....

Yeah, I guess I misunderstood-I thought the graph measured the response of different metals to each of the three frequencies and that the frequency that was most reflective to aluminum would show up either higher or predominant on the screen. I quess my dream still awaits, but any more info on...

    :clsoedeyes:Gotta know about the Spectra....

Posted this on the White's general forum before I realized..... When my first bfo detector, about 30 years screamed on foil, I realized that different metals responded differently to detectors. I always wondered why the reflectivity of different metals wasn't measured and now it seems like my...

    :clsoedeyes:Gotta know about the V3i....

When I was about 30 years younger and using the old BFO's, I noticed the detector would scream over foil wrappers and immediately realized that detector signals would react to certain metals differently and always wondered why the reflectivity couldn't be measured on targets. I accidentlally...
