    Two 1880s home sites

This is three weekends worth from two 1880s era homes. The Indians are 1865,1888,1890,1891,1896,two 1902's1906,1907. The barbers are 1906 and 1907. These were found by me and my wife we each found a silver and pretty much split the Indians. No special settings needed there the deepest coin was 4".

Will the DFX do anything that the V3 will not do or is it better than the V3 at anything?

Classic ID,IDX,IDX Pro with a 5.3 coil is hard to beat in trash and is a great complementary machine to the V3 also highly underrated. As for the DC phase I loved it in my XLT it really helped my identify deep iron targets.

Friday's hunt--a tale of woe and resolve

You could try a little bit of bottle cap rejection. I would put mixed mode on the back burner for a while until you really know your machine. like others said slow down, stabilize your machine. Its very deep even at conservative settings and it loves the 5.3 coil as do I. The 5.3 coil is what I...

    Using Analyze to ID Iron

I have a V3 and in my ground a 8 or 9" dime is no problem with the 5.3 coil.

    Using Analyze to ID Iron

In my area the dominate frequency on rusty square nails is 2.5. But the rusty deep bottle caps the 22.5 is dominate. I suppose it all depends on the ground.

    Deep Silver Program

I have had good success with the deep silver program with a few miner adjustments. I turned mixed mode off and turned three frequency on but left everything the same. It requires a very slow sweep speed. This program and a 5.3 coil got me a nice seated dime at about 9" it had good tone and gave...

    Whites V3 & Super12 Search Coil

"Only a inch" that's huge a inch could be the difference in coming home with silver or coming home empty handed. An extra inch can turn a bunch of fringe targets into good signals.

Dominant 22.5 coins in 3 freq. Best Data?

I don't think he said always. And this from Carl's first paragraph " 22.5kHz may also work best on small thin coins, even those with high silver content, due to skin effect. " He also stated thicker U.S coins. Although in my area silver dimes hit harder on 2.5 but I would guess the silver dime...

Dominant 22.5 coins in 3 freq. Best Data?

I'm guessing the 22.5 being the dominate frequency is the exception not the norm it certainly is not the case for me in my area and that's why I think whites chose the 2.5 for the V3 and the 3 for the DFX for the deep silver programs.

Dominant 22.5 coins in 3 freq. Best Data?

All my coins deep or shallow have all hit hardest with the 2.5 KHz and the 7.5 kHz a close second on the really deep ones. The 22.5 kHz barley registered on a 9" dime. I don't get the whole 22.5 KHz for coins. There is a reason whites engineers chose the 2.5 kHz frequency for the deep silver...

Is it the machine or me? analyze mode

I will have to agree just ignore analyze mode and probability % . It will only ad to the confusion and they are not that accurate at depth any ways.

    Deep Silver Program...

Deep silver is a good start I turn mixed mode off and sweep as slow as you can stand I also go +1 on my ground balance. Some people are claiming the 22.5 kHz is deeper in my personal experience the 2.5kHz is deeper and its not even close I'm assuming that's why whites engineers picked it for the...

Whites Spcetra V3 or Minlabs Etrac

That's a good point but the V has only been out about 6 months and lately the amount of silver found seems to be about the same. And like I said before its the same couple of people that always post silver. Ive hunted with a etrac user a few times and its a deep capable machine but nothing...

Who is getting deep (coins at 8 inches) and how are you doing it?

There are 7 just in this thread at 8+" ??

Whites Spcetra V3 or Minlabs Etrac

No I don't think all machines are the same but research, location and learning your machine dictates more of what you will find then kind of machine you have does. That's just common sense isn't it?

Whites Spcetra V3 or Minlabs Etrac

The forums are a small percentage of the people who hunt it would be naive to pick a detector based on the number of good finds each forum has there is just not enough information there. I personal know a couple of people with some amazing detecting collections that don't even know these forums...

Whites Spcetra V3 or Minlabs Etrac

The silver on the etrac and explorer forum has really calmed down lately seemed to coincide with the end of minelabs marketing campaign ?? Also seems to be the same couple people always finding the silver. I think people give to much credit to there machines the coins have to be there before you...

Who is getting deep (coins at 8 inches) and how are you doing it?

In my soil the V has no problem getting a 8" to 9" dime with the deep silver program and I even turned down Rx and disc sensitivity and had all three frequency turned on mixed mode off boost off and was running a 5.3 coil. I think the main issue is target masking anyways most of the old silver...

    VDI 54 I don't believe it-silver

No problem! that's what the forum is for. I can credit this forum for two of my silvers this year.

    VDI 54 I don't believe it-silver

Actually that's not true modulation effects non mixed mode discrimination audio. Mixed mode audio is all metal at the same time as discrimination audio the all metal part is never modulation but you can choose to have discrimination audio modulation its a small but noticeable difference.
