    357 Update

Well…it was loaded and I thought it might have been involved in a crime. I don’t know what the laws are here in California but I doubt I’d be legally allowed to just keep it.

    357 Update

The detective got back to me today on the loaded 357 I found at the beach. He said it belongs to someone in Michigan and for some unknown reason that person is not able to have a gun anymore. The gun was not reported stollen. The detective was able to unjam the gun with WD40 and no rounds had...

    Found a loaded 357!

No guns aren’t banned in California. I recently passed my gun safety class to get my hunting license. Yes I held the gun and probably messed up the prints. The lifeguard picked it up in a towel. I called the police station to inquire on the case. The detective is running the serial number to see...

    Found a loaded 357!

Nice going on the returned watch. I’m in Southern California. When I found the gun there were kids and people playing all over the place. I didn’t want it to accidentally go off or have someone yell out “He’s got a gun!” Also I wasn’t sure if finger prints stay intact after being in sand and...

    Found a loaded 357!

    Found a loaded 357!

It was pretty far out in the wet sand. My first thought was it fell out of the pants of a gangster partying at the beach. But gangsters tend to be more into Glocks not revolvers. So maybe it was used in a crime and recently tossed into the water at high tide.

    Found a loaded 357!

I was hunting the wet sand at the beach today. My first target was a quarter. The second signal was kind of all over the place. I dug a deep hole in the wet sand, probably a dozen scoops, and pulled out a loaded 357 revolver. I had a lifeguard come take it away and call the cops. They took my...

    Four Hour Cold River Hunt

I hunted a cold river today for four hours. My wetsuit is 6mm so it kept me warm. No gold today but the ring upfront in 925 silver and the Ray Bands are real.

8 Hour Hunt finds gold and silver

I noticed the waves were getting big so I went for a beach hunt to see if some sand had shifted. Sure enough there was a lot of green crusty clad. One ring is 925, the other is 10k. Haven’t tested the stones because I don’t have a tester. Also my brother took back his scale. The medallion is...

    First hunt with 6” Coil

I re-read the instructions for the XP MI-6 pin pointer, I guess I need to power in with it in the water. I also got a refresher on the two menus.

    First hunt with 6” Coil

I got to hunt the tide pool rocks with my 6” coil today for 1 1/2 hours. Found one silver ring and a lot of lead. The coil works really well for this type of hunting. In the past I’ve found gold rings ring up in the penny range but with the difficulty of recovering targets and was trying to not...

Second day in a row of striking Gold

I went hunting for 3-4 hours today. I found a small 10k signet ring and a piece of gold that was part of a necklace or bracelet. The little ear ring is 925 and the other stuff goes into the junk jewelry box. HH

    Gold in the cut

I haven’t acid tested it but “yes” the cross is stamped 14k on the flat round link that the chain goes through.

    Gold in the cut

The cut is where the ocean cut into the sand at high tide. Sometimes it leaves a little cliff. This was more of a gentle cut but it still left the heavy targets to be found.
