Lots of work but meager findings.

Tuesday morning I started out on my expedition back to the township where Old Town exists; there are at least five other sites within the township where other villages/towns started out, thrived for a short time and then faded from history. The site I visited Tuesday is called Blakesburg...

    6T and M6

I noticed that the 6T and M6 as shown in Whites catalog costs the same. So why would anyone want to buy the 6T when they can get more bang for their buck with the M6? Although the website shows the 6T as $100 less with a coupon. So what if you don't HAVE a coupon? Are the dealers going to knock...

    Tuesday hunt.

Back at the track today I decided to put the MXT in Jewelery and coin mode and dig everything in the pull tab mode. I'm tired. I got there at 8:00 am and brok off at 2:20 pm. The first 4 hours were spent digging junk and absolutely nothing to show for it except three nickels. I spent the...

    An ok kind of day......

Took the MXT out for six hours today at the Race Track. The machine is like new; it just purrs like a kitten. Didn't pick up as much clad today but tomorrow if the weather isn't too cold I'm going back over some areas and just dig pull tabs and see what I end up with. There should be lots of...

    Back IN Business

Finally got my MXT back. What a relief!!!!!!. Whites fixed a loose connection, replaced the POD-PCB assembly (whatever that is) and replaced the LED/Header assembly. Looking forward to thr Race Track again. I know I missed lots with the the other detectors I used there. Also got some leads on...

    A question.......

The Vaquero is a 14kHz machine with GB. So is the MXT. The MXT is an all around machine, operates at 14.75 kHz and has had good reviews as a gold nugget machine. I'm wondering if the Vaquero would stand toe to toe with the MXT (and other top of the line Whites Detectors) as a gold nugget machine...

A logical response to my question.......

Recently someone suggested when looking for gold rings I notch out everything, but .5cent, Alum, Pulltabs. When he suggested I notch out everything he met all silver and clad as well. I wanted to know why the silver and clad too. I got back what I think is a logical response from dahut...

Didn't find that ring at the track........

Went back to the Race Track but didn't find that $3000 lost ring. Two of us looked in the area but no luck. I suspect its already been found. But it was a good experience. Only collected $7.00 in clad today and another toy car on a chain. Its some kind of gift from Allstate. Looks like a key...

A real good day with the Ace 250

Well, I got permission to MD at a race track, a very big Auto race track not far from me. During the season, there ar 40 to 45 thousand people there, most parking their cars and campers on the grass for the weekend. I was in luck yesterday when I drove through the gates and asked this fellow...

    The OLD whites detectors...???????

Who out there is knowledgeable about the Old Whites detectors. Were they the Classics? I think Bill or someone had said something about these months back. I stopped at a RaceWay where people come in with the campers and trailers and spend the weekend to watch the auto races. I asked the guy if...

Rotten day at the Old Town

I went back today to this old town I had been detecting. I started by locating this ancient cemetery I had found in the old part of the area. I was told about it by one of the locals so I went to Maps and sure enough found an aerial view and located it outside of town. I parked the car and...
