A good start for the year!

I've had a couple of good hunts this year too! An old colonial buckle, a spur buckle, a dozen or so bullets... and cents from 1928 to 1958. I believe that's the first musketball to come off the old farm we been hunting for a couple of years now. I'ts always a surprise to dig great seal buttons...

From a three hook yankee beltplate [ rough, but it's the real thing] , Colonial and CW era Rosettes, buckles and other brass, a colonial seal, some interesting bolo ties, a hundred or so buttons, a mess of bullets and p caps found in the same hole....apparently the contents of a bullet pouch...

    Relics & Silver

Cool Relics and Sweet Silver... a great combo. The first pic is of the New York button in a previous post and the relics found around it. The 2nd pic is of an 1829 - 1837 half dime - do you see the outline of the eagle? A mercury dime follows, then some SWEEEET Spanish cut silver, then a worn...

Ever seen a New York button like this?

Hey everybody. I dug this button about three weeks ago in a known cw area, and surrounded by various cw relics. It's a big overcoat sized button - 28mm, and has no backmark. Tice's book has some similar pieces on pg. 381, but none match. Could it be a postwar piece? Any help is appreciated.

    onto the colonial stuff

Dug a nice cast pewter wax seal, a bit of spanish silver, a real crude one piece cast button, half an old shoe buckle, a bullet, and a victorian era broach. I just might be onto the oldest part of the farm after all! Thanks fer looking, and good luck.

hello all. frank and i hit the woods once again yesterday. i dug this nice but unmarked spur. it's the horizontal, raking type. it's pretty heavy and solid. a bent over poker chip, an interesting dupont disc, and a few other goodies came out the ground too. i'm glad it's starting to cool down...

hello all. it's been blistering HOT here, but once in a while manage to get out. the eley bros. piece was given to me by a good friend. my shovel slipped off a huge root and barely dented the co. b letter. oh well, i can't win them all. good luck!

a hot hour in the woods pays off!

yeah, it was hot... but worth it. visiting near the battle lines of the haw's shop/ enon church battlefield, i dug a nice silverplated [at one time] spur that took a horizontal rowel, instead of the usual vertical rowel. it's unmarked, small, and might be civilian. a nice crude three ringer...

dug a nice clip corner this morning!

frank and i headed out near the confederate lines at the haw's shop battlefield this morning. i said, "today's the day, frank. i can feel it in my bones." the sweat started pouring, and the finds were scarce, digging only a couple of bullets here and there. shotgun shells galore. walking out the...

hey everybody. i've been mia for awhile, returning from the road working. olddigger and i squeezed in a couple of hunts together. i came up with some shot lead yesterday in a short line about 30 yards long, after fruitlessly searching two fiteen acre fields. it used to be a swampy area, so all...

hello all. pete the worm and myself headed back out to the field yesterday - it was 60 degrees - where we've all been digging sharps by the pouchfuls. i think we're up to nearly 200 between the three of us, so it's been good for us. i dug 12, got a solid brass musket band, 2 wheat cents, a '44...
