    Kicked out of park

Went hunting back at the site of my last post on the small town park with my brother. Found some older wheaties but nothing too exciting. On the way home we stopped at another small town park that used to have an old school next to it. Really wasn't finding much but after about 20 minutes of...

    Small town park

Took to a small town park today in Western Iowa. Town was founded in 1854 so I was hoping to finally get that first seated or large cent. That didn't happen but did round up a 1906 Barber Dime, 43 Merc, 2 Indians (1901 and 1907), two tokens and a 1905 V nickel. All targets came in very...

To the metal detectorist in Omaha who......

To the person who hunted Bowling Green park in Omaha either Saturday the 15th or early on the 16th please pay attention to this. If you are a beginner to this hobby please contact me through this post. You absolutely tore up that park with your digging. Your holes were way to big, you barely...

    Best Day Ever

Went to a park today about an hour from Omaha. Figured this park had to have been hit, but maybe not. Had a 7 silver day. Dates from1918-1964. 4 Mercs and 3 Rosies. Also pulled up 15 wheats and a silver ring. First 7 silver day ever and I only got through about half the park because I was...

    End of drought

Well, the drought ended today. Not the lack of rain drought, but the silver drought. Went to an old Western Iowa park for 2 hours. Pulled up a 1916 Barber dime at 4" ans a 1890 Indian at about same depth. Hard ground has cost me about 4" on AT Pro, but still pulling stuff around 6". Really...

    And crazier and crazier

[attachment 235091 Hard-Rock-LVnv-20050300-Casino-Palms-View-10-G-9LI.jpg]Posted earlier this week about finding my third silver half of the year. Well tonite I went to a different local park and pulled up a Hard Rock Hotel Limited Edition 10 dollar gaming token. The outside part appears to be...

    Crazy year just got crazier

Took an hour Tuesday night and went to a local park just three blocks from home. This park has been around since the 1920's and has been hunted a lot by me and others but I thought I would try an open area away from the main park. Never really hunted that part much although a few weeks ago I...

    King of Wheat

Went to a local park today and dug wheaties #97, 98, 99 and 100 on the year. Last year with a different machine I dug a total of 163 so I am way ahead of last years pace. Today all I listened for were the deeper signals mixed in with the junk. Also pulled out a nice Navy pin. Love my AT Pro.

    Lack of silver quarters

Got the AT Pro in January and am loving it. Have found 30 silvers so far this year including 2 half dollars. My problem is out of the rest of the 28 silvers, 27 are dimes and only one quarter. Is there something I am missing by not finding any silver quarters? I am finding plenty of clad...

    Digging plugs

Last night I went to a park that I was at in the last 2 weeks. I noticed that most of my old plugs have turned brown. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to determine what went on there. I tend to cut about a 6" concentric plug as deep as my Lesche will go so as to get below the roots. I have...

    Playing with ground balance

I keep reading how some people on the AT Pro are able to lower the GB number to get more depth and sensativity on silver. Can someone tell me how that is done? I have not figured out how to move my GB number. Thanks

    Pinpointer Question

Can the Garrett pinpointers lose depth over time? Mine is only a year old but has been used A LOT. Seems to be not as deep as when I first got it. Any ideas?

    One weekend, four silvers

had a great weekend hunting. Went out yesterday to a local Omaha park and pulled up a few wheat's at first. Knew there had to be some silver in this park. Park is only 60 years old but wheat's are always a good sign. Eventually got two 1961 Rosie's. Combine that with the four wheat's and...

    2nd hunt with AT Pro

Got out again today for my second hunt with the AT Pro. Hit a park I have had good luck at before. Pulled out a 1954 Quarter and the about 20' away got a sharp 84-86 at 6" and pulled out this AA recovery token. This one is for 18 months sobriety. Hope the person is still hanging in there...

First Time out with AT Pro

Got my AT Pro Thursday and today I had a chance to get it in the field. Went to a local Omaha park that has been good to me in past. While running in Pro-Coins mode I had a solid repeatable, but soft 80-82. Dug down 8" and pulled up a 1899 Barber dime. Had never found a barber in this park...

    2012 Starting Great!

Was able to get out and hunt today. 65 degrees in early January in Nebraska. Who'd have thunk it! Hit a small town park again. Pulled in two Barbers (1901 and 1906) and an 1892 Indian. I also dug up an old cracker jack toy wagon. Looks like it was a prize they used to give out. Made of metal...

    2011 Token Finds

Sometimes I like finding tokens more than silver. Last night I went through my 2011 finds and in addition to the coins I did some research on the tokens I located. I have an A.O.U.W. (American Order of United Workers) badge. Don't recall where I found it or when but it is neat. About silver...
