    First Gold with V!

Parent teacher conferences today so my son was out of school and I took the day off to watch him. We took the oppourtunity to hunt a soccer field in an old park usually too over run with kids on the weekend to detect. I'm not a jewelry hunter so I rarely dig low end signals (too lazy to dig...

White's is a first class company

There is a similar company in the auto industry. AMG, makers of the Hummer H1. If you ever have issue that is difficult to resolve you can call the plant itself and talk to anybody on staff about various issues in their specialty. Parts aren't free but shipping always is. I once had issue with...

Hello all - some advice please

Soil conditions play a huge role in determining depth. In the usual soil I hunt, looking for a solid repeatable signal I could get maybe 6" on the XLT and about 8" with the V (these are practical depths that I could find with a normal swing not knowing where a target is). I've also been in...

Dominant 22.5 coins in 3 freq. Best Data?

someone needs a new calculator. :bouncy:

White's is a first class company

Reminds me, I sold 3 detectors to get the V. One was a GM3 I had only used once. Somehow I had lost the gain knob which greatly effects value for whatever reason. I called whites to replace it before listing it and they said they'd send one out and finished up the phone convo. I stopped the nice...

Hello all - some advice please

Personally I would get out with the XLT again for a bit to be sure you're going to stick with the hobby. The XLT is a great machine and you won't see a huge improvement with the V unless you spend a lot of time with it. No offense to whites but I'm not a huge fan of their pinpointers, though...

1st day with my new V3

I like your attitude Aaron. You take out the new machine, with "a lot going on that you don't understand" and see possibility rather than frustration. Congrats on the machine. You're going to love it.

Dominant 22.5 coins in 3 freq. Best Data?

It seems to vary a little but generally in the 6" area is where I see the conversion from 2.5 - 22.5 being dominant. Really, it doesn't matter one way or another. Any good repeatable signal that deep - I'm digging it. I rely mostly on audio. I'll try to get time to make the video soon...

Just ordered 10x12 SEF Butterfly. :clapping:

So I FINALLY got to take the 10x12 out last night. For ME, in MY soil - I'm getting similar depth (or maybe a little more depth) than the Super 12 with MUCH better target separation. I can't find a down side to this coil other than that it likes bottle caps similar to the D2. Use of the other...

Dominant 22.5 coins in 3 freq. Best Data?

Hmmm, so you're saying a US silver dime should pinpoint with 2.5 as the dominant bar always? Would you believe me if I made a video of the silver dime in my test garden hitting best on 22.5? :detecting:

Dominant 22.5 coins in 3 freq. Best Data?

22.5 is the dominant freq here (in the norcal bay area) on deep coins. To make things even more confusing a coin in the 5-6" range is sometimes be dominant in 7.5. To clarify, on deep coins blue (22.5) will be the longest line on pinpoint. I can't give any input on the dominant frequency in...

What are your thoughts on having a DD coil as stock

We used bigfoot only on the few club hunts (seeded) I've attended. Is that a deep coil? or is it as I always assumed, a clad/jewelry finder?

    Does anyones V3 work properly?

I remember my first night out with the V3. Man it WAS overwhelming. I took delivery about 30 minutes before I hit the ground with it. I actually had to have my buddy turn the volume down because I couldn't find it (or maybe it was that the menu intimidated me). :surrender:Once I read...

    Considering Buying A - Spectra V3 ???

Normally I'm not sure the V is a good choice for a beginner but if by "loaded with trash" you mean in such close proximity that you must hear coins between it, the V excels in this arena. Whatever you recommend to him, it should be fast.

My 5th first with the V3

Congrats. A LC is one of my dream coins. Not very common here either. Where are you?

Does the area you hunt hold 8" coins or

Our merc dimes are in the 6"- 8" range. Barber is deeper and Seated deeper still. We have soft sandy soil the older areas such as SF, Alameda and Oakland and coins sink DEEP! A demo of a old school yard or park brings lots of detectorists out. I've seen seated dug after 3' had been removed...

What are your thoughts on having a DD coil as stock

I think the DD coil was the best choice for the stock coil. 950 is too mild (for mineralized soil) and doesn't separate enough. ( I think one of whites main objectives with the machine is recovery speed) 5.3 is too shallow. I have one and I will use it A LOT but a poor choice for best overall...

    Custom Coin Program

Me too! I'm digging more gold range targets when 22.5 is the dominant freq on pinpoint but no gold rings yet. I will say in my short time with the V, I've found more silver rings than I have in 10 years with the XLT. I can't figure out why??? Maybe just some kind of weird fluke but I get a...

    trouble with wireless headphones

Bad/dead batteries? I get about 3 trips (I usually hunt 4-8 hours) out of a set of alk batteries. When they go dead they beep like when powering down. Turn them back on and get about a minute before they shut down again. You might also check your power output to the wireless. Should be set to...
