It was a loose wire. I can make one out of the 2. I'll return it to my buddy next time we go out!

    Pin pointer

Well, I decided to check the pointers out. First one has a broken case, but, it turned on and off. Wouldn't detect anything and I'm suspecting a broken wire. Second one wouldn't turn on but had a rattle. I held the battery against the contacts and it worked fine!! I'll return that one...

    Coil charging clip

Update The coil cover on my 9" coil was not tight on one side which was causing some of my problem. As suggested, I beveled the edges. I also put 2 wraps of very tight electricians tape on each side of the attachment sides. I did go wider on the outside to avoid the indicator light. No tape...

    Coil charging clip

Does anyone make a replacement that's easy to use? The coil charging clip is very stiff. Maybe I should keep it in a warmer place? I keep snagging it on the coil cover.

ID numbers read 30 points higher on my XP than my mxt????

A Whites 3Vi has a color screen with 3 separate bars, one for each frequency and each is a different color (assuming you're running all 3 frequencies). If it's a quarter, it's an 83 vdi and the green bar shows the most strength. It's it a bottle cap, it's an 83 vdi and the blue bar shows the...

ID numbers read 30 points higher on my XP than my mxt????

I've used a 3Vi for many years. I bought a D2, 2 months ago. Aside from the obvious different numbers, you will see much less separation. The Whites have a wider range (3Vi is a multi frequency), and the D2 has a much tighter spread. I'm used to a screen that shows each frequency band. It's...

    Core material

New pennies, Zink core. Dimes, quarters, halves, dollars?? I'm assuming all have the same material in the core. Given that, our detector reading related to size of the core. Again an assumption is it's a bronze component. That assumption based on copper pennies reading in the silver range...
