Did you ever wonder about finds validity...

Was metal detecting with some guy who found old coins. When he brought them over to where I was to show me, they weren't very dirty and could read the dates and see the coin. These weren't silver either which I know come out cleaner than buffalo's or indian heads. I did dig a buffalo from the...

    10" Excellerator coil VS White's D2 coil

Does anybody have or use both. I was told that the Excellerator coil is lighter than the D2 but then seen others post it the other way. If you use any of these post your preference and why. I do have the 6x8 SEF DD butterfly coil.

What causes pinpoint to be silent

Sometimes with my MXT Pro, after finding a target and sweeping both angles, I'll move the coil off to the side and go to pinpoint but the machine goes silent. Will have to resweep and try pinpointing again, sometimes numerous times before it pinpoints.

    Hole size

Seems a little larger and deeper hole keeps the flapped plug together better and allows a nicer looking hidden recovery job when you're done as well as giving margin for error for further digging if needed. Seen quite a few Utube shallow digs and a guy I know digs these shallow digs but leaves...

    Help clear up retrieval question

I personally find a deeper and larger recovery hole makes a better method for leaving an area looking like you never dug. Plug stays together better and larger and deeper dig allows for further digging if needed. I do leave a flap and by larger I'm not talking a crater, just a 4 to 6 inch wide...

How do you clean matchbox cars

What cleaning method do you use on matchbox type cars that are full of mud and dirt?

    How do you personally decide

How do "you" decide if you are going to dig a target or let it go?

    Do you switch modes

Started trying this to see if it helps in IDing a target. Start with relic mode and iron audio tone on my Pro, switch to coin and jewelry and then even prospecting to check iron probability. I do this on the bouncy, iffy signals. That's the nice feature of the MXT, knobs allow quick setting...

Does reversing a coil change it

Read where some people reverse the way they mount a heavier coil to help balance the weight and feel. Then seen where some said to not do it cause it effects the way it detects. I don't see how it matters so can someone shed some light on this.

    This has me confused

Hunting today at a church grove, MXT Pro in relic mode using iron ID tone setting. Did adjustments and gb and using 6x8 Sef coil. Got repeatable high tone but VDI was in negative numbers and IDing as iron. PP showed 2 inches so dug it. Out popped an Indian Head nickel. Rescanned hole and no...
