    Very small gold nugget

I know there are much better detectors that will find gold nuggets versus the Safari. That being said, the Safari using the 11" DD Pro Coil will detect (air test) a .04 oz. flake of gold at up to 1 1/2" at 20 sensitivity and up to 2" using a 4.5"x7" DD Excelerator Coil. The ID # comes in at 9...

First day out with my new 4.5 x 7" DD Coil

The Seiko watch was 3" deep in the dirt and grass at the edge of a park between the road and sidewalk next to the curb. How does anyone lose a watch like that in a strange place? The larger 11"DD coil may not have found it with the re-bar in the curb and the $1.00 coin was found 6" away from a...

    6 grain Gold nugget @ 1 1/2"

Using my new 4.5 x 7" DD Excelerator Coil at sensitivity 19 or 20, I can detect a small 6 grain nugget of Gold at 1 1/2" which produces a target #9. The 11"DD coil gets only about 1/2" depth. If I had a larger Gold nugget, I'm sure it would detect at a greater depth. Of course there is great...

Found a Silver Ring with my new Safari on first day out

Inside the ring: William A. Rogers, Oneida LTD Coin & Jewelry, ID #20 I don't think it's worth very much, but it's interesting that I found my first Ring on my first day with my new Safari. Found some clad dimes quarters and pennys also. I like this Safari already.

    Safari Ferrous Audio

In 'Mastering the Quattro' book, it states by using Ferrous audio you can easily discern the difference in sounds from a clad dime, silver dime or quarter making it easier to cherry pick the keepers from an older site. How is this possible?

Turn Safari off or leave it on while digging target

Concerning Battery life, would it be better to turn the Safari off while digging a target or leave it on. Maybe turning it off and on would not be good for the circuitry of the detector. I don't know, I'm just asking since a Safari goes through a lot of batteries in one week.

Best smaller Coil for Safari would be..?

I know the standard 11"DD coil for the Safari is great, but if you wanted to use a smaller coil for the trash areas, which one would be the best?

What kind of coin is this?

Today I found this coin, same image on both sides, in a park with my Omega 8000 in the kiddie playground area. I have never seen a coin like this before. Does anybody what it is?
