    Generally threshold stays pretty constant even with TX boost on. Mostly it helps the Discriminate modes. And what you may have heard was I have the target volume set a little loud.

    Just remember, it's a trial. If you get too much "drift" you may have to push the SAT up or you'll be pulling the trigger alot. Nothing but my discriminate patterns are set in stone. Everything else gets adjusted accordingly but this VID is usually how I start. Happy Hunting!

    V3 seems to have xray vision through the junk

    Congrats! The correlate mode really makes a difference too. It'll average up on the VDI when a good target is mixed in with the junk. It's my primary hunt mode.

    Just a little more help toward understanding the RX Gain and Discrimination sensitivity controls.

    Very good observations Mike. I've noticed the same things. I generally hunt with 85-95 on the discriminate sensitivity with Gain at 5 or lower with no fear of loss. The V3i is really amazing in this aspect. I like to think of it as having $100 bucks in my pocket when I only need $50.
