Detecting an Archaeological dig site...

I was on vacation so I went to help out at a local archaeological dig site for a few days. They have been digging here since 2004 and I have helped in the past. I have asked the Archaeologist in charge if I could help with my detector a few years ago and he said no but I could help dig, LOL...

1744 micro silver coin and a few others...

The snow is gone and I have gotten out for several short hunts. Found a few coins from the 1800s to early 1900s, musket balls and buttons. These were the better finds. A medallion from 1950 celebrating the 700 year festival, says 1250-1950 August. This is the reverse, the obverse is in bad...

    Desperate attempt proves satisfactory...

In a desperate attempt, I headed out to the grocery store parking lots to look for some loose change in the plowed snow banks. I took a short cut by the high school and was surprised to see the city had been cutting trees along a stream and flattened out the snow in a field. Just perfect...

I was not going detecting today but, received an emergency call...

An American lady in town pulled her glove off while walking and her wedding ring flew off into the snow. She just received the ring January 4th, her second ring as she lost the first one as well and they have only been married for one year. I was able to find the ring quickly, a sweet little...

Crown cap badge and several other relics...

Got out for about 4 hours over the past few days. We had a hard freeze but it has warmed up above freezing and I was able to dig the lower part of this field. This is not a black and white photo, LOL, it looks like an ugly day with a little rain but was great for detecting.
<img...

    Twas the afternoon before Christmas...

Had to work till noon today. Was able to squeeze in an hour on this field. Amazing how dead it is here considering the field behind me is one of my best. The two houses in the background are supposed to have been the Toll houses in the medieval days as this was under a different ruler...

Cold last hunt for awhile at an old site...

I was glad to get out today, was a little cold, -3.2C/26F and we had our first snowfall of a few inches. My detecting buddy wimped out so I explained to my wife where I was headed in case I was never to be heard from again, LOL, she didn

    Castle and gold mines...

I headed out today for the medieval gold mining area, about a 25 minute drive. When I got close, I noticed many cars and people walking around so I retreated to a grass field below the mines, was surprised so many people were in the area as it was a cold and rainy day. After an hour on this...

Two hours in beautiful weather gives two silvers...

What a beautiful day, mostly sunny and warm. I hunted a good two hours. Found a few musket balls, lead seal, a few buttons, a large clay marble and two silver coins. Here are the silver coins, left is a 1908 and right is an 1827. Reverse of the coins. HH, Mike

Still getting out, here's a few of the better finds...

Some hunts and finds from the past few weeks. Hunted a few fields around my house, only found a few late 1800s coins and relics. My house to the right, castle ruins from 1107, left hilltop.

...

A few finds and a battle field from 1504...

Explored this area where a battle took place in 1504. This is a monument erected several years ago and not very close to where the actual battle took place but, it was a starting point. Most of the forest floor here is covered with 2

Long time no post! I have been lurking the forums and getting out for short hunts. Looking for new areas to detect, most new fields have been duds but I have made some finds. Also have done some quick lunch hunts on the army post and have found around $40.00 in battery money, LOL. Here

    Haircut yields $75.00...

I took an early lunch today to get a haircut on the army post where I work and by the way it costs $9.50 for a military haircut these days at AAFES. On the way I saw something laying along side the road so I stopped and picked it up, a brand new Gerber multi tool with all the gadgets. I looked...
