    Never used one. I personally would move on. there are lots of great units in the 2-300 $ range that will provide a great experience for you and your grandson. The Minelab X-terra pro series is one that comes to mind.

    Contemporary counterfeit coins are a great part of history. I found a counterfeit shield nickel once but that pales in comparison to my wife's counterfeit BC Celtic gold stator!

    Sooo.. I think most responses have missed the original questions. As I see it ISM 40 thru 100 are non-ferrous, right? So your expanded scale theory doesn't hold water if you have only 60 points of detection. Furthermore, there is a notable compression of targets in the usable 40 thru 60 range...
