Another after supper hunt with the Classic ID

Went back to the old school this evening and found the ground hard as cement. We need some of that rain from out west. Did manage one silver dime. It was real nice that it turned out to be a 1945s Mercury Dime. That just happens to be my birthday. I just can't get over how well the Classic is...

    Discovery 3300 at the beach

This is for those who wonder if the 3300 will work at the beach. I went to Va Beach last night and hunted three blocks. I hunted from the boardwalk to the wet sand. The unit was very stable with no chattering. I did not attempt hunting where the waves wash up, because I know VLF detectors don't...

Another after dinner silver with the Classic ID

It was hot (94 Degrees) and the deer flies were out, but managed to hunt the old school close to my house before dark. Found a silver dime within the first 10 minutes. It was downhill from there. Between the heat and the flies I think I lost my concentration. Still, as long as I can find at...

After supper silver with my Classic ID

As some of you know, I just started using the Classic ID and hunting a school I have hunted for over 25 years. This is the easiest detector you could have and it has been like hunting these areas for the first time. I had never used a White's machine before and it has been a great experience. I...

This months finds with Classic ID

These are some of the items I have found this month using my Classic ID. I found every one of them in areas that I have searched for years with other detectors. This is my first White's detector and it certainly won't be my last. It is truly like starting over and finding things I have missed...

    Classic ID Merc. Pocket drop!!

This is only the second time I have been out with my used Whites Classic ID. I found the usual clad coins and a couple of nickels. You can imagine my surprise when I got a good signal and dug 3 Mercury Dimes from the same hole. Talk about a "happy dance". I have never found three Mercs. in the...

jeffvw is a great guy to deal with

I purchased a White's Classic ID from Jeff on May 3. It arrived today in perfect shape and had batteries so it was ready to use. I posted my finds in the Metal Detecting Forum. It was a great day and I love the machine. I am a very satisfied buyer and appreciate the way he handled everything...

First hunt with my Classic ID

I purchased a White's Classic ID from jeffvw of this forum on May 3. It arrived in the mail today in great shape and with batteries in it so I could try it out right away. Went to a neighbors yard (that I had hunted before with my other detectors). I found a 1930 Buffalo Nickel, 1956 Nickel...

Support is alive and well at Garrett

Just wanted everybody to know that the tech. support is alive and well at Garrett. I contacted them about a power supply problem I was having with my GTA1000. Got a reply from Melinda Harper, within a day. She said that the problem might be with the battery holders. She is sending me a new set...

Still getting an education at the Old School

One of these days I will learn to go two blocks from home to the "worked out" school. Every time I go there I find something worthwhile and I save gas. I think the school is trying to tell me something.:detecting:

    Today's Cub Scout Find

Went to a local school that was built in 1920. Found this Cub Scout medallion. It is brass and measures 1 1/4" X 1 1/4". Anyone have any idea of its age?

This Old Dog finds one older than he is !!

I know a lot of us find dog tags metal detecting. Just wondering if many have found any older than this one. This is the oldest one I have dug up yet. I thought it was a neat find. Still had the rivets where it attached to the collar.

    January clad finds

Just finished cleaning my clad coins for January. Amazing how fast they build up. No wonder my back aches. At 63 thats a lot of squatting down and getting up. At least I am getting my exercise ! Considering how hard the ground is in some areas this time of year I consider myself lucky. Good...

Back to the old school grounds

Oh my aching body!!:stars: Bin detecting the school about a mile from the house. Every time I get ready to give up on it, I find a few good targets. As you can see I have to clear out all the surface stuff just to get to the good stuff. Good thing the muscles ease up by the next day. The only...

    Never give up !!!

Went to the old "hunted out " school again today. Searched hard for an hour and only found one clad dime. Thought about giving up and going somewhere else. The only reason I stayed was, I have found a silver dime on my first hunt this year. As you see by the pictures, the next hour and a half...

    Freedom 2 Coin Commander

Hey guys and gals, Is there anyone out here that knows where I might find a larger coil for my machine. I am using the standard coil that came with it. I have found loads of coins and artifacts with it, but would like to be able to get a little more depth. I have a Hot Head coil on my GTA1000...
