    Pay to hunt??

Have you guys ever heard of a pay to hunt gig? There is one being offered in SC - pay $150.00 to hunt relics - seems like total BS to me. Ya know - I'll bury some "relics" in my back yard and let you guys detect for $25.00 - does that sound like a deal or what :-)

Cibola or Compadre for the Beach?

Going to be on the island of ohau - which detector would be best for beach hunting? I have tons of experience with both detectors on land - but nothing for the beach. The only advantage I can think of is the Compadre's light weight. TIA!

    Joining the Church of Compadre

My Cibola has been awesome and my new "go to detector" . My ACE 350 has now become a backup unit.. So after drinking the Tesoro kool-aid - I now have a 5.25 Compadre on the way - I wanted something with a smaller coil for the high metro trash I hunt in and something a little smaller for my...

    Cibola hunt with my daughter

Found 2 Silver Rings - one of them has some stones.... look like CZ's. My daughter found the pendant - which isn't silver - but she likes it anyway - what 12 year old wouldn't?

Compadre and Silver uMax audio ID

Hey folks - I only have experience with the Tesoro Cibola - which has some audio id (crackling and popping when discrim kicks in), then there is the all great "solid repeatable tone". - The popping and cracking are great indicators and so are the solid repeatable tones. My question is - do...

    Ground Balance question

How do you know that a ground balance machine would be a improvement over what you have? I have a Cibola and a ACE 350 - both seem to get pretty good depth and are working great for me. I also live in the Atlanta metro area with all the red clay - again - I think my machines are ding a good...

Gold findings on average for non-beach hunts

Just wondering what everyones experience is with finding gold in non-beach area's If the averages are about 1-3 gold finds per year - then I think I am out of the gold game( except for beach hunts) - silver and clad have been much more productive for me. Thanks in advance for the posts..

    Metro City vs Country

Hey folks - quick question (Ha!) What do you think the best Tesoro is for the typical metro/city/fairly trashy area for coin and jewelry hunting - and what do you think the best Tesoro is for out in the country relic / silver hunting? I am voting on Silver uMax with stock or small coil for...

    Platinum - white gold question

My Cibloa can only detect white gold discrim set at zero, it will not detect it with a side to side swing - only back and forth swings and discrims out just above iron. Regular gold detects just fine.. I thought this a bit odd - maybe my grandmothers ring isnt really platinum? All though...

    Gold location poll

Hey folks - I was just curious what others experience has been in locating gold.. I would like to take a quick poll of locations that have worked for other people. So far for me - soccer fields seem to be it.... I am going to guess parks is the number 1 answer.... Thanks in advance for taking...

Cibola nabs silver ring on first hunt.

I have owned a ACE 350 for 1 month - which has been great - found a mercury head dime last week. I just recently purchased a Cibola (still holding out for a Silver uMax thanks to Tabman's constant success rate) I have been pounding a small plot of virgin land used to sell Xmas trees and...

    50 Hours with ACE 350

Got my ACE 350 on March 4th - put about 50 hours into it so far. Never metal detected before - or owned a MD before. The 350 has been great - I will say the sniper coil is a plus - it helped to land the liberty head dime in the photo (I thought it was a hearing aid battery when it popped out...

    Question on Ground Balance

Ok folks - I need a brief education. I currently use a ACE 350 which has been pretty good to me so far. What am I missing out on by not having a ground balance unit? Is it depth? and if it is -what could we be missing out on? 1 inch? 4 inches? please clue me in. I am interested in getting a...

Best Tesoro for Coin and Jewlery

Hey guys - I live in Georgia (red clay) and I am mainly a coin and jewelry hunter - get to an old house every now and then...so hunting silver would be nice.. I am thinking a Compadre or Silver Umax is about all I need... maybe a Vaq(but that seems a little too high-end for my needs) Any...

Question on hunting silver part 2

Rarely have I hit any clad deeper than 5 inches. (ACE 350 w/ stock DD coil and a sniper coil) So my question is - on average - at what depth do you typically find silver coins? I know there are a lot of variables at play here - one would think the older the coin - the deeper it must be - but...

Pumpkin Stands and Xmas tree stands

Went to a small area used to sell halloween pumpkins and xmas trees - I guessed it might be a good spot - 47 clad coins in 30 minutes. I had 36 total for 4 weekends worth of hunting - but the pumpkin stand blew the lid off today. On another note - checked out a 100+ plus year house tear down...
