I detected for 30 seconds today...

A farmer let me "test" a site where an old cabin used to be. I got a few iron pings and after walking 5 or 6 feet I got a solid coin signal. Dug down and there was a nice green large cent looking up at me. I told the farmer it usually isn't that easy. He said I could come back and dig the rest...

    Sunday's finds...

Robin(MI) and I took a trek down the old stagecoach route between Detroit and Chicago(Just a small section of it). We knocked on a few doors and dug lots of holes. Here's some of what was in mine minus a merc and a war nickel that I gave to some property owners. HH Neal

What kind of buttplate is this?

It's from a CW camp in KY. Dug it this spring. From the looks of it that curve was made like that originally but I may be wrong.

    Found a Hobo Nickel today

I dug this guy out of a local park this morning. Hobos would take a knife and change the indian into other faces. Then they would sell them or trade them.I think this is the most common type, turning the indian into a hobo with a derby. HH Neal

Did a little beach hunting Sunday....

Came away with some goodies: Gold ring with stones, gold earring, titanium ring, and 2 bracelets of questionable value, LOL. Sure was nice to be in the water with the temps close to 100!!!! HH Neal

Park hunting with Robin and Tim today...

We managed to coax a few goodies out of a couple of Michigan parks today. My total for the day was 4 wheaties(including a 1909), 1889 indian, 1946 Rosie, and an 1850 Bank of Upper Canada Half Penny. The sterling ring came from some sidewalk construction I stopped at on the way home. HH Neal

    Weekend digs...

Since I dug two seated dimes at the first of last week my silver coin luck just shut down. Does that ever happen to you? You find a good old silver coin or two and then it takes a good long while to dig another one. I did get silver though in the form of a child's bracelet, a harness bell, 4...

Moved from the silver patch to the indian patch...

I've got to hammer this area. There's got to be another silver coin in there somewhere. In the meantime I'm having fun diggin indians. The last one I dug tonight was an 1873.

    Another Seated dime tonight....

I started where I left off last night. That's a 1910-S Barber dime and an 1888-P Seated dime. Man I love this hobby! HH Neal

Mike I. emailed me and said "Let's go hunt the park"....

So after work I changed my clothes and zipped over to meet him. We scanned for about an hour before I got over the 1874 indian. Then Mike dug an indian. Then I dug the 1883 seated dime just a little before dark. The dime was at an incredible depth of 1 inch! I'm not joking. It was no more than...

    Silver Week Streak!

I'm pretty sure this is a first for me. I was able to dig at least one silver coin a day for a solid week. Last night at about 8 p.m. I finally got over a Barber dime that finished the job(I was able to dig a merc. about an hour later too). HH Neal

    Silver Week Streak!

Didn't know if I could do it or not. Last night at about 8 p.m. I found a 1912 Barber dime that made one solid week of finding at least one silver coin a day! Then I was able to dig another Merc about an hour later. I had the help of some construction sites, park brush clearing and some luck...

Evening hunts have been yielding some silver...

Found a little hot spot locally this week and have been hitting it after work each evening. I get a little silver each time. I posted the Barber quarter before but it got lost on the old forum page. HH Neal
