    Have been finding

barbers at this site, but never any merc's. The grass was tall, and ground swampy, and after about an hour the heat and mosquito's got the best of me. The token says, (advertising keeneys "refresh-mints") and good for 5 cents on the back.

Have hunted this site a dozen times before with a soveriegn, but missed this one. I picked up a used explorer 2 and found this 1899 barber dime this morning with it. The sov. is'nt to bad, I've found 3 other barber dimes at this same site with it. Including the 1895o key date. But I'll give...

    Leave friends at home

A friend just bought a new md last week, so I took him to my favorite spot. I found a 1946 wheat and an unreadable date wheat. He found a 1902 nickle, a ring that appears to have a ruby setting, and a cup/challis. Anyone know if the cup/challis is a toy or was for something useful?? It sure...

    A little silver

After about 3 hrs and only having found the 1960 lincoln, was about to call it guits and go home. Then I found 5 of these tokens all in the same hole. The side not shown says "good for 5 ents in trade" The 5 diget number was different on each of the five tokens. The tokens encouraged me to...

    Todays digs

Went back to the old mine site where I'd found a half dozen old lincolns before. Pictured are a 1917, and a 1926d lincoln. A 1900 indian head. A 1888 V nickle (badly worn) And another load tag. This makes my 3rd indian head, 2nd V nickle, and 3rd load tag.

    Maybe Texas T

can help. I found a token from Big Horn Timber Co. Its kind of corroded and is soaking right now. Would like to see a pic of one in good shape. Will show a pic of mine when done soaking. Appears to be a connection between Big Horn Timber and the ghost town of McShane Texas.

Back to the old mining town

No silver, but must be getting to the right area. First pic is 1940p, 1927p, and 1917d lincolns. Second pic is I believe a tag the miner would hang on a car he loaded, and in this case when it arrived at the surface, miner number 6 would get credit for loading it. Got another token, but its...

    Weakspot

I may stir up a hornets nest with this post, but was wondering if anyone else feels the same way. I have soverign with a 550 meter and almost feel that I will have to put it in a garage sale or buy a different meter for it. I like the way the dectector works, but (excuse my language) the meter...

    Way out in the boonies

Thought I would find something here, but after covering one side of the old school out about 30 yards out and the area where the merry-go-round and the swings were did'nt get a single coin hit. Presume I was getting deep enough because I did find a small piece of copper about half the size of...

    Someone asked

A couple of buddies and myself had been hearing where the grand daddies of grayling were hanging out a couple hundred miles south of Fairbanks. If we would have been older at the time, we probobly would remind you of Walter Mathau and Jack Lemon in "Grumpy Old Men" So we headed south out of...
