Best Battery for 9 - volt uMax units

 Hi , I know this has probably come up in the past, but I want to draw everyone's attention to a really good battery for the uMax single battery 9-volt units. I use the Panasonic Industrial 9 volts number 6LR61-9V. I recommend it because it takes absolutely no pressure to install and fits...

    Simplified Golden uMax Settings

 Hi, I have a Golden uMax ( older version) and I'm still trying to figure out the best settings for it. I have read all the postings lately about the notch on the Golden and it looks like a lot of you don't use the notch feature. So what is it's value then? I am so...

    Schematics for vintage detectors

 Does anyone know where to find schematics or circuit photos, drawings, etc for the old detectors? I have a Garrett AM-2 Groundhog and a Bounty Hunter DE 280 that need to be repaired. Broken Pole Locks

 I was tightening my upper pole lock on my Silver Sabre uMax when it cracked. No, I wasn't overtightening it,...just snugging it up because I was getting some wobble. Has this ever happened to you? What did you do to get it fixed? I was wondering if the factory has to "press " those on or...

    Panasonic Batteries

 I think this subject has been brought up before but I have some ideas as to why Tesoro sends Panasonics batteries with their units. I tried several different brands in my uMax units including rechargeables and they ALL were difficult to load. The little plasic door was hard to close too...

    A Tesoro Coincidence - 1980

 Hi All, I just realized that my wedding anniversary falls on the same year that Tesoro got started which is 1980. This is pretty cool since it says on the website " 32 Years of Quality Metal Detectors " . So now when I log in it will remind me and I won't get into trouble with " the...

    Pillar Detector by Tesoro

 There is a " Pillar " metal detector made by Tesoro on Ebay. I think it was marketed by Kellyco years ago. This one looks like the Pillar I which was a basic beep and dig machine. Did any of you ever use one of these? It looks like the same features as a vintage Silver Tesoro.

    Coil " re-tuning"..question

 I certainly don't pretend to know everything about detectors so here goes another question for you more experienced users. I have always wondered something. What exactly does " re-tuning " the coil during a repair do for the performance and use of the metal detector? :nerd: I have...

    Let's Talk About Depth

 Hello everyone, I was just reading the posts about the " V " hitting deep silver coins. I have been doing a LOT of watching depth tests, air tests, reviews, etc on YouTube. There are not that many videos bragging on Tesoros for depth. It seems that the most impressive were Minelabs...

    Old Tones Golden uMax Question

 I hope you guys don't get tired of me asking so many questions but I am working real hard at mastering ( I hope) the old version Golden uMax. According to 53 Silver's excellent video,... the zinc penny gives a mid tone until the switch is flipped to "wide" and then it is knocked out. But...

Golden uMax All Metal Mode Question

:cool:Hi Guys, I really value the opinions, instructions, and experience of all you Tesoro users. I am kinda new to Tesoro and have an all metal mode question. I used to have a White's IDX Pro. It had a non-motion all metal mode pinpoint switch mounted under the handle ( like the Tejon has)...

    MD'ing Best of Times Era

 Is it just me or is the industry losing ground as far as good metal detectors go? I remember back in the early 90's. There was the best lineup of metal detectors ever produced!
