    Depth and Accuracy...with the v3i

Ok, so we know it's not the machine. Try running a stock program, use loctrack for ground balance settings and find a nice clean spot to balance at. As Larry and I both stated, coins will hit the best when shallow and as they get deeper, past 6 to 8 inches, the VDI #s will start to fall...

    Depth and Accuracy...with the v3i

I have had some very strange VDI #s come up before but it was always a ground balance problem. If you use a coil cover, make sure it's clean. Try an air test and see if they come in normal, if so, it's got to be in the ground setting such as balance. If they come in high like that in the...

    gold coins vdi

You CAN discriminate bottle caps along with pull tabs or anything else you don't want to dig. But it comes with a price of not being able to pick up on other items that hit in the same range. I can usually ID 95% of trash that I don't want to dig but I don't do it by discriminating it out, I do...

    Depth and Accuracy...with the v3i

A lot of variables here. What settings are you using? Are you ground balanced good? Etc... I have never seen a dime or quarter come in the 90s at all. The VDI # will start to degrade the deeper the target gets. Quarter will hit about 82, 83, and dimes are about 75, 76, unless it's a silver dime...

    halo effect

Halo effect is when a metal target starts to deteriorate and it leaches out away from the target and is in the ground around the target. If you dig a coin, if you look close, sometimes you may see a dark area around where the coin is depending on your dirt. As far as nails, lots of people get...

How to take advantage of this drought..

This summer hasn't been the best for detectorist because of the drought and the extreme heat. So how can you use the conditions we are all in to your advantage? Do you have a spot that is iron infested? A place that usually you have to pick through square nails and pieces of small junk but still...

    Modulation

Larry is correct. Most of the gold rings I have found have come in on the 7.5 frequency. Very few on the 22.5. No gold on the 2.5 frequency. Remember that gold rings isn't pure and the kt. will vary. So will the size which will effect which frequency hits hardest. If its shallow, (above 4...

    Modulation

I haven't. I have talked with whites about making a depth discrimination setting to where you could eliminate the surface targets up to 4 inches. If not that then at least make modulation backwards from what it is now. Make the deep targets come in louder and the shallow targets come in faint...

    Secret location

Went to a secret location yesterday with my buddy ( corvair ) and hit the jackpot. I ended up with nine silvers and about ten wheats and two large cents. The great thing about it was my buddy ended up with nine silvers also! The large cents are pretty much toast but I can make out 182? on one of...

FS. 15x12 SEF Seach Coil for Whites DFX,V3, V3i

I am selling my big 15x12 SEF Seach Coil due to the fact that I just don't use it that much anymore. I used this with my V3i and had no problems with it. It goes really deep and covers a lot of ground. Just send me a pm.

    Why mixed mode audio?

Mixed mode allows you to hear more or less the depth of the target. If your looking for the really deep old stuff, it's a good tool to use its just like having the pinpoint trigger pulled and also hearing the object tone at the same time. Sometimes you can hear that there is something there that...
