    Vaquero yard finds this evening

Managed a few minutes with the Vaquero before dark. The brass item is marked "Whitehead-Hoag" its' part of a badge or award. The cufflink appears pretty old and it was soft repeating signal in the soft sandy soil of the front yard. It was deep, at least 8 inches down I almost missed it.

Vaquero finds an interesting badge or tag

The little badge is about the size of a Us quarter. Not sure where it's from but at least it's dated. Found it buried about 6 inches down in the backyard near a large old tree. Finding it was tough since it was surround by nails.

    Vaquero's simple finds today

Zipped around the yard today and found a few things. Nothing fantastic but anything you dig up is frankly kind of cool. The oldest coin was a 1946 wheat penny and I did manage to come up with a nickel in the mix. The oddest object was a tiny metal button. I've found a few of these over the...

BTD Cover for my Vaquero, great service and product

I already had one of these covers for my Compadre. Checking on line I found the actual firm , BTD Custom Covers, and called. Got hold of the owner who was just wonderful. We chatted about what I was looking for and he even offered color choices from fabric he had in the shop. The cover...

    Vaquero interesting find

I ran the Vaquero around parts of the front yard this morning that was shielded from the misty rain. Along with a few chunks of iron and a 1920s shot shell base I found this clasp. It appears to be mother of pearl but very worn from years buried in the sandy soil. It's intact except for the...

    The new Vaquero today

I worked with the new Vaquero this afternoon trying out different settings and getting to know the machine. Nice unit, light, easy to swing, and handy. Found a more of those weird iron sculptures again. Almost like the iron pieces boiled under ground as they oxidized forming the strange...

    Vaquero released from the box

OK, here we go. A short video of the Vaquero coming out for the first time since leaving the Tesoro factory in AZ . http://youtu.be/zDZe0LL0-Aw

Surprise from Kellyco, Vaquero today :)

I ordered the Vaquero later on in the day on Thursday 12/11. I had spoken to Chris the same gentleman at Kellyco who I ordered my headphones from a few weeks back. He indicated that the machine would likely show up Monday or Tuesday of next week. When I got my email sales order it indicated a...

    Adding another Tesoro

After much thought and study decided today that adding a Vaquero would be a nice idea. For the areas I normally hunt it should be a great addition to the Compadre. Made the call to Kellyco in Orlando and it's likely already on the way up.

Compadre goes back to 1901 at lunch

Took about 15 minutes to go over a small section of the between the sidewalk and the street. The city was by a few days ago and cut it very short while clearing the old curbing for hopefully some repair work. I found this 1901 Indian Head along with a 1964 Memorial penny a foot or so apart in...

I like great service, Kellyco treated me fine

I spoke to Chris at Kellyco on Saturday. Needed a better headphone setup for my Compadre and arranged for a Pro Rattler rig that has one ear cup so you can still hear in your surroundings. So today I'm working from home in my consulting business and notice a Fedx truck pulling up outside...

Yet another small token for the Compadre and good Kellyco experience

As I've been contemplating another detector purchase it's coming up on the 1 year anniversary of my Compadre. Purchased thanks to my participation here and reading about everyone's success stories. It's a heck of a nice little detector. I've been hunting with others over the past year they...

Another short video, finds, Compadre, gear

I shot this video with the Replay Prime X in a chest pack mount from First Light Flashlights. The whole rig is one we use in our consulting business and it works great for shooting hands free vids where a head mount camera might be a problem. The other major component is a Peak Design camera...

The Compadre strikes again - silver in 1918

Once again right before dark a few minutes ago. Busy day so I had only a few minutes to detect. This time the hit was about 6 feet from yesterday's V nickel. The signal was very smooth and repeatable, I'd already dug some great sounding interesting little iron things quite deep. The coin was...

    Beyond a Compadre

Got into a discussion with another friend who also detects. He is 100% Garrett and has been for decades. I wanted to know what is gained going from a Compadre to another Tesoro detector. We were discussing this and frankly since all my detecting experience is really beep and dig with older...

Compadre goes back to the 1896 this time

I had maybe 5 minutes this afternoon to detect before dark. So I made one pass about 2 feet wide from the sidewalk to the street and found this. An 1896 V nickel, talk about a chance find and it was the first of three holes I dug in about a 1 foot area. The others just turned up a couple of...

Kellyco sale on Friday, except Tesoro - :sadwalk:

I had gotten an email from Kellyco about a 20% off sale in store only on Friday. Wow I thought here is a chance to add another Tesoro so my little Compadre does not get lonely. Made a call today to verify, but oh no there were exclusions. The Tesoro units are not part of the sale. Almost all...

Compadre's first shot down the street, new yard

Finally had the chance to hit that yard down the street my neighbor wanted me to check out. Shot this video short while checking out a new action cam we are working with in the process. In this case a chest mounted Replay Prime X set at 1080P 60FPS. We will do more this way...

Compadre gets lucky today from 1887

Got very lucky today. Ran the Compadre over a section of grass between the sidewalk and our side street. Got a solid hit trying to negotiate around some of the long buried iron pipes from old city utilities back in the day. Got a solid repeat signal for just a moment and tried again to find...

Compadre finds a nice little medal

Found this tiny medal a few feet from the house with the Compadre set at a hair above the iron setting. It was buried about 5 inches down in the sandy soil. The medal is about the size of my thumb nail and in pretty good shape. Took a few minutes to find it since it was so small and thin...
