    They were with Milroy in Winchester when he got defeated. They retreated towards this spot & some units were sent to Mead after the battle as reinforcements to chase Lee. I see two scenarios.

    I've been gojng relic hunting after work this week. I found a pretty rare bit boss today. I believe it's from the 2nd US Cavalry co K. I've been finding a lot of sharps at this spot. Now know who was there.
