Is Metal Detecting on the Decline?

When I was a small child those my age age could not wait for Christmas because there was nothing else like it, looking at the Wards or Sears catalogues, and telling Santa Claus what I wanted was like magic. And when the gifts arrived I was ecstatic. As I got older I realized it was my parents...

    F70 chatter cant stop.

May be the loop: can you try another one?

    Anyone know the difference 1265 x vs. 1266 x

Both had a push and pull sensitivity for 2 different ranges. The 1266 was hotter, but the early ones were noisy. (The XB was a take down unit but was not any hotter as some dealers said than the regular ones.)

    Fisher 1266-XB

Have used him many times: sometimes there is a wait because he does everything himself.

    Which one is your favorite 1266x 0r 1265x ??

The relic hunters I knew preferred the 1265 because it was not as erratic and quieter: many went to the bigger loop to try and gain more depth.

    There is a 10"concentric.

You tube is a bad influence!

The T2 is HIGHLY favored in the UK hunting in iron and is one of the most popular detectors there.

    T2+ overload

Unplug the loop and then put it back on. If it continues try a new loop. (also consider pulling batteries and testing: see if one has reversed polarity)

    What is this anomaly??

Since multi has been out since 89 (and Fisher invented it) I think its not proprietary and is understood. Besides ML and Fisher, Whites, NM and Garret use it, Ask NASA Tom, or Ty Brooks who wrote the Tek Talk column for WET for many years. The first question is does one set of wires handle all...

    What is this anomaly??

Watch this video on frequencies and target response. Its eye opening. (but he does not address multis)

    What is this anomaly??

Coil diameter does not necessarily mean it equates to the depth: and target size also must be factored in. A 3 foot manhole cover will be detected deeper than a 1/2 dime. Yet an ultra deep large loop will not hit a tiny gold nugget. And the better the resonance match generally enhances the...

    What is this anomaly??

Does it have a stat mode (no motion hunting mode? And an adjustable threshold? Does the manual GB show numbers? I hope concentrics do not head for obsolescence. They are deeper, they discriminate better and more accurately, have a symmetric search field and the coil has no dead spots, and are...

    What is this anomaly??

It depends on how much battery power is put in individual frequencies of a multi, or in a single. No one says what the actual transmitter power output is in whatever it is measured in of each radio frequency. And the FCC classifies metal detectors as non emitters, so it is low. (A P.I. has 10x...
