    Fisher Cz5

    CZ5 is OK either way.

    Fisher Cz5

Sweep speed is also important. A slow sweep in discriminate mode, listening to all tones, can help get a low to high tone bounce where a quicker sweep just gets the high tone.

    CZ7 Volume

I haven't had a CZ7. The CZ6a, and CZ20 and CZ5 all are as therover describes. Seems the detector is detecting the targets well, it is just that with lower volume settings you are not hearing them.

    Gold...sell or hold ?????

Sold jewelry that is personally owned at a loss compared to the retail value. Hmmm ... could get an appraisal for insurance valuation and claim sales at a loss.

First Day with the Fisher Impulse AQ

I set up the disc and ATS with known targets on the sand for tone or mute mode. Otherwise it is largely an exercise in frustration with what is rejected and what isn't. That said, I run it almost always in all metal since it is expressive enough to tell a lot about a target without tone or mute...

Which Knob Guard for Hipmounted Minelab Excalibur

I'm not hip mounted but have been using a knob guard for a long time on the Excaliburs I have. I've got one that I dropped the detector and put a little bend in the knob guard that certainly stopped damage to the detector itself. Mine was an off brand no longer made but it looks very similar to...

    Metal Detector Rack

Don't know if something like this would work or give any ideas on how to mount ... just a thought

Does anyone use the Manitore or Equinox for wet saltwater beach hunting and comparisons on the two.

Few years back was detecting at Deerfield Beach, Florida and just missed seeing Gary. Met a guy from upstate New York with a CTX 3030 who did run into Gary several minutes before I met the guy with the 3030. He said Gary took the time to help him set up the jewelry program on his detector and...

Does anyone use the Manitore or Equinox for wet saltwater beach hunting and comparisons on the two.

I have neither. yet Clive Clinick's posts over on Detector Prospector about his experiences with the Manticore have peaked my interest. (Wish there were more posts over here) For now I'm staying with the Impulse AQ (with Joe's battery) and tried and true Excalibur.

OOOPS, I did it again.. Nope, didn't meet Britany spears..... Back from OBX

A ball field concession stand that was a very productive area to detect in the past had the grass paved over last year and this year has a sign saying credit or debit only. I'm still writing my representatives to replace the dollar bill with a coin ... still have that hope of finding treasures.

    Nokta Pulse

I copied this from elsewhere dated Oct 1, 2024: "field testing for Nokta's gold prospecting pulse induction detector is starting very soon with Nokta staff doing testing in Australia and with other worldwide testers getting test units." "the gold prospecting PI will be released first and that...

    Pondering getting the CZ 3D

If you ever detect salt water beaches, adding the CZ is a plus. The F75 will ground balance to the wet salt but you need to really stay on top of the ground balance to get decent depth and it will still be chatty. The CZ will be easy to use and deep detecting over the wet salt sand.

Some silver finds beach and yard spanish 1/2 Reale and A beautiful monogrammed, solid silver spoon handle

Any famous names that can be tracked to the initials on the spoon handle? I'm guessing that any makers marks are on the part of the spoon that is missing.

Is this a quartz with what I think it looks to Jo????

Good location to find some nice stuff. Hope you find a lot of goodies!

Again, my OCD got the best of me. I caved, and purchased a Fisher Impulse AQ.

If you are using it in the water, tie the cable straight up the shaft for at least the coil diameter before starting to wrap the cable around to take up the slack. The water movement can move the cable enough for the detector to hit on the cable. Not so much an issue when the cable is run...

Question to refresh my mind about some older coils.

Could do what I did to get a FZ-12 coil for my CZ6a for beach work ... it was in a package with a CZ5, the FZ-12 and the 8 inch coil. I bought the package then turned right around and sold the CZ5 with the 8 inch coil and kept the FZ-12.

    Bought a Compadre with a 7” coil

Thanks! I had all the info already but still nice to see you go to the effort to look it up and re-post it for all who might be interested! The Compadre mod is not at the top of my projects list yet ... probably won't be for a while.

    Bought a Compadre with a 7” coil

I think the 7 inch coil is perfect for the Compadre! Right now, mine has a 9x8 concentric hard wired. I've got a 7 inch Troy coil and need covert the Compadre to a connector connection to swap between coils.

The New " Garrett Vortex" has been released!

Agree! The Fisher Impulse AQ LTD has those ancient design shaft locks and at least a few of us have taken them off and replaced them with cam-locks like the ones shown from Steve's Detector Rods. Problem of silting up solved!
