First Texas is selling brand new cz3D…. $650 free shipping on Fee / way .

I suspect they are cleaning out inventory. My guess is that they probably want to shut down the support costs as soon as the warranty period on the last units expires. I'm guessing the CZ21 is next. After that, who knows? No hints of a new high performance detector and no indication of a new...

    Fisher Fisher Impulse-AQ

I've got two. They are deep, smooth threshold. Some people pan the discrimination capabilities; the discrimination is not like a VLF detector but I find it is useful; you still need to develop an ear for the width and shape of the sounding on targets to avoid digging most of the iron bits. The...

    Short morning beach hunt.

The three shell sizes I find most on the beach are .22, 9mm and .50. The .50's are explained in that they were used in large quantity for target practice for pilot training before pilots were shipped to Europe for WWII. They were fired just off shore at targets on platforms. When beach...

    Tips and tricks for cz21

If you are new to the CZ platform then a good place to start is Mike's CZ page where it has CZ tips. Where it talks about meter, think tone since the CZ21 does not have a meter. It is here: http://www.mikewd.fws1.com/mikestips.htm For beach hunting I like to run in auto-tune (all metal) and...

who out there is still using a cz-20 that was converted to a 21 ??

My CZ20 is still a C20. It stopped ground balancing correctly and lost a lot of depth when the ground balance failed, so it is sitting in the closet. I have not had it converted because it is tuned to have nickles sound mid-tone so that I can just dig the mid-tones at the beach. Fisher will not...

Most Hated Words for a beach detectorist....

On an Excal they sound like a short round target response that in tone mode sounds like a large gold ring (not as high pitched as a quarter or half dollar but above a nickle) ... if you don't dig it you don't know what you have. You might be walking away from a very expensive piece of metal.

Most Hated Words for a beach detectorist....

I've been able to sell those for from $5 to $20 dollars depending on what I can find as a comparable new price. Unfortunately it looks like the Chinese are going to kill that market too now that Temu (China's e-bay) has nice looking stainless and tungsten rings for sale for from 50 cents to $3...

    Red Neck

I cover well with SPF 50 and even with a good tan developed still sometimes feel the skin get a little sore after being out in bright mid-day summer sun.

    A week in Pompano Beach

Thanks. Was fun having all six grandkids with us. LOL ... I have yet to be able to see the scoop on the bottom of the bay or tributaries when waist deep; even during the winter; knee deep yes, barely; waist deep no. I do kind of miss the winter time bay tributary hunts when the water gets blown...

    A week in Pompano Beach

Had nearly all the immediate family in Pompano Beach for a week. Water was calm and clear with wave intervals running from six to eight seconds of no more than one foot waves. I detected on four days for about three to four hours each day. The rest of the week was very busy with family stuff...

    Tesoro no longer in business

I doubt it would apply to any other detector than the version 4 circuit on the Compadre. You might try Geotech forum. There is a lot over there including a lot of reverse engineering of some older detectors. I have not searched over there for any of the Tesoro circuits.

    Tesoro no longer in business

I searched this computer and found that I had loaded all the pictures to this one ... Here is the Compadre circuit board with potentionmeters marked. It is for version 4 of the board. I don't know how many versions there were. The only setting I messed with on mine is sensitivity. Adjusted...

    Tesoro no longer in business

I found my old posts on tweaking the compadre (actually information was first provided by Keith Southern), but the picture of the board and which pot is which are not there anymore ... and I don't have them on this computer. If you feel it is appropriate, could you post the pictures, if not...

Can I still find a coil

Excalibur is still made so a coil is made too. Getting just a stock coil by itself might be difficult. There are some options for coils from other manufactures too. Try the Minelab US service center: https://www.detectorrepair.com/

    Fisher CZ's still the King

Are you ground balancing? As RLOH notes 5 and up in dicrimination mode is high. If I run in discrimination mode, and I run sensitivity 5 and up, it falses and I dig phantom targets. When running auto-tune (all metal) I can run sensitivity up to where I hear a threshold and that is in the 8ish...

    Fisher CZ's still the King

Tom's certified depth can be repeated in air tests. That Ken's air tests are less indicates something is not set right or there is EMI affecting his air test. Even on Florida beaches I can ground balance the CZs I've taken to Florida. I've heard some say that on some beaches in Florida the...

    Beach hunting shoes

When I was hunting the Chesapeake bay and tributaries they got a little smelly until they dried out and every now and then would stink after drying, but a dose of Gear Aid Revivex Odor Eliminator (previously sold as McNett Mirazyme) or Sink the Stink Gear Deodorizer clears it up. Have not had...

    Beach hunting shoes

Pretty good. I wear socks in them to keep my toes from rubbing. I tried regular dive boots and got lots of sand and pebbles in them. With the NRS ATB wetshoes, with a lot of water movement some sand gets in but not a lot; the pebbles stay out. One big thing for me is they have pretty good arch...

Is the CZ properly ground balanced?

    Fisher CZ's still the King

Puzzling. Perhaps sweep speed? CZs like a relaxed sweep. Too fast and you miss targets. Settings? Headphones? A couple years ago with a silver ring at the beach that I found with the CZ6a (with the FZ12 coil on it) I had another beach hunter come up with his Equinox and he could not find a...
