FS: Mint condition Cortes and accessories

I'm selling my Cortes which I purchased from a dealer in June 2008. It has been back to Tesoro for a tune-up so it's running top notch. Along with it is a 5.25 coil with spare lower rod, weather cover, scuffs for both coils, original box, and manual. I will ship it double boxed for protection...

    I love my Cortes, but...

I've been very successful with my Cortes, and would even venture to say that it is the best detector I've ever owned. Then, just for pure curiosity sake, I traded a Vaquero I wasn't using for a Fisher F5. I never owned a Fisher, so I figured what the heck, try it out. Here is what I think...

    What about us?

Us Tesoro users, that is. Everyone seems to be getting new machines. Fisher had a whole slew of them this year, White's had a couple, Garrett has a new pinpointer, and now Minelab has a new machine coming out tomorrow. Tesoro is conspicuously absent in this list. Could we be next? Dan

    Cortes battery life

I now have 40 hours of use on my Cortes, and the battery indicator is still showing life in the batteries. I'm amazed at the battery life I have seen, because I have used the back light a few times. I would have thought that would kill the batteries faster, but apparently not. The battery...

    F/S: Tesoro Golden

Tough times mean tough decisions. Regretfully I must sell my Golden

    F/S Tesoro Tejon with extras

It's been sitting around gathering dust, so it's time to say goodbye. The Tejon is in near mint condition, with the exception of a few scuffs on the bottom of the arm rest. Included is the 5.75" concentic coil with shaft and hardware, rain cover, original manual, bumper sticker and box. I'm...

Just received my new Cortes today...

... and I'm concerned. The VCO all-metal mode doesn't seem to work, instead it nulls over metal objects (the way a Sov GT nulls over iron). Also I can't perceive any difference in GB from full - to full +. The Disc mode seems to work fine, in fact I found a few deep goodies in my yard this...

    Initial impressions of the Golden

I received it last week and have had a couple of opportunities to take it out. I thought I would post my first impressions in case anyone is interested. First thing I noticed was how small and light it is. It is significantly smaller than my Tejon, which surprised me. First thing I checked was...

F/S Mint GTI 2500 with extras

This just isn't my kind of detector. I'm a Tesoro man. I bought this in January, and sent it to Garrett to have the mineralization chip added. It comes with the Pro-pack, which means it also has the 12" imaging coil. The head phones are still in the bag. I have a 4.5" Scorcher coil with lower...

Sent the GTI in for the chip upgrade

I found out that my new GTI 2500 doesn't have the mineralization chip update, so off it goes to Texas. In case anyone is wondering, serial numbers before 3610**** do not have the chip. Can anyone give me an idea of how long something like this will take? I'm not in a big hurry since it's...

GTI 2500 air tests -Interesting results

This is a follow-up to the post I made back in December found here: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?17,635634 My 2500 arrived today, so I replicated my test with the new machine. Here are some photos of the results. With the smaller imaging coil, in all metal, the results were almost...

    Metal Detector Reviews

That web site that rates metal detectors claims to be "the trusted source for unbiased information". Really? I posted 2 reviews of machines that I owned, both reviews praised and were critical of each model. One review was posted for a couple of weeks, and now it's gone, The other review...

    GTI 2500 on the way!

I've wanted to try a GTI 2500 for a while, and now I have one on the way. I'm pretty pumped about that. I have a couple of questions about the coils. Are coil covers necessary, or are the coils rugged enough? If necessary, what is a good source for both the 9.5 and the 12.5 covers?(I've been...

    Tejon air tests -interesting results

I set up a simple rig to do some air testing with my Tejon, seeing as how it's too cold and miserable to do much else. I will post some pictures of my results. The first test was in all metal, running a barely audible threshold, with the tone set high (3 o'clock). The sensitivity was at 6, as...

    F/S-Sovereign GT

This unit is brand new. I've never had it outside. It comes with the meter (the meter is used), spare battery pack, stand, charger, hip mount bag, "Finding Gold, Silver and Coins" book by Clive Clynick, and the original box. Asking $650 OBO plus shipping. Paypal preferred. Thanks, Dan

    A nice variety of Tesoros...

...on Ebay right now. I noticed a Euro, and Eldorado, a Stingray, a Sand Shark and a few others. "Tiss the season", like the song says... Dan

How is the GTI 2500 for picking through trash?

I'm curious about that. All of the imaging coils are rather large, so how does it do where pulltabs, and bottlecaps are everywhere? Can it distinguish a coin sitting right next to a pull tab? What does the image show in a scenario like that? Thanks, Dan
