    Beach hunting Omaha ???

Well it looks like I will be working in the Omaha NE area for the next few months. Would like to do some metal detecting there but dont really know the area. Gonna need to search the maps on the internet for parks and schools and such. Leaving 70 deg weather and lots of sandy beaches here in...

Ground balance of the F-75 question ...

This evening I visited a Middle school just a few blocks from my house. The F-75 SE would not ground grab ... As I pumped the coil the number just stayed on whatever it was on. I tried several areas with the same result. When I got home I tried ground grab in my back yard and it ground balanced...

Rockport Texas ... one gold ...

The water was low today at Rockport Beach so we hunted the area with a Excalibur II and a CZ-20 both with the 8" coils. Could not find a target with the Excalibur that the CZ-20 could not also detect. Did find some deep pennies. One gold ring.

All things being equal which would detect a dime deeper ...

The 1266X or a CZ-5? Same ground, same coil (8"), same day, same target ... just the detector different. I think they would be about equal but my buddy says the CZ-5 would be at least 1 inch deeper. Willee

beach hunt today with the F75 ...

Was very pleased with the way it ran in the dry saltwater sand. Stayed in the DE mode and it was just too quiet. Fast grab at 60 and sensitivity at 80 ... I thought the detector had turned off. Increased the Sensitivity to 88 where there was a slight threshold tone. Odd ... 87 quiet ... 88...

Dang it ... that F-75 does get deep!

I did not believe the hype. Yeah sure ... all detecors go deep. But after a few field trips with the F-75 SE I gotta admit ... That thing does go deep! Willee

    Salt water beach ... F-75 question ...

Went to the gulf beach today for an hour and took along the F-75 SE. I know in wet salt sand the GB numbers are typically very low and that the F-75 SE would not ground grab something under 40. I placed the detector in manual GB mode and pumped the coil above the wet salt water sand as I turned...

F-75 SE wont ground grab ...

My new two day old F-75 SE seems to have a problem. I tried to ground grab by pushing the trigger forward while pumping the coil from 14" to 1" above ground. The two digit number stayed on 90. Very noisy operation ... suspected this was a bogus GB number. I manually set the GB to 60 and tried...

    Troy Shadow X5 ...

I have had a couple Shadow X2 detectors in the past 10 years and recently bought a nice used Shadow X5. Very impressed with the detection depth ... easily equal to that of a Tesoro Tejon. How many detectors of each model do you think were made and sold ... more than 1000? Willee

Adding another Fisher to my arsenal ...

Adding a new F-75 SE to my 1280X, CZ-3D, and Gold Bug II. Dang ... how did I get so many Fisher made detectors. I got three Garrett's and three Minelab's so I guess that is only fair. Willee

Hunting wet slat water sand which coil would be the better choice? The large standard (stock) coil or the large mono coil? Willee

An AT PRO beach day on the Gulf Coast ...

Took the AT PRO out to Bob Hall Pier and the condos just south of the Packery Channel jetties. Had an odd situation ... At Bob Hall pier and at the condos in the wet salt sand and in the hard packed sand the AT Pro worked perfect at both places. Auto GB (around 13) ... full sensitivity all 8...

    Wireless Headphones ...

The wireless headphones on my V3i has spoiled me ... now I want them on my other detectors. When will some detector maker offer them for use with other detectors? I tired the Radio Shack wireless headphones but the transmitter has a small stereo plug and needs an adapter. I made an adapter...

Wireless headphones ... no big deal?

Manuals! we dont need no stinking manual! Real men know this stuff. Actually, I did look thru the manual and since enabling the wireless headphones cut off the speaker, I assumed it would also cut off the headphone jack. I was thinking of using the wireless headphones myself when someone else...

Wireless headphones ... no big deal?

Didn't think wireless headphones were such a big deal on a detector but after using them on the V3 for a while have changed my mind. The cord really gets in the way when you set the detector down and start to retrieve the target. I have been spoiled on the wireless headphones and wish all my...

    V3i problems?

You did do a manual ground balance didnt you? Just asking cause this is a new detector and might be all out of whack. I would wait on getting that S.E.F. coil until you had some time with the stock V3i coil ... it is a good DD coil. I think I would consider a 300 concentric coil before the...

Salt water sand ... low tide hunting ...

I have been reading that the DD type coil adds to the problem of salt water sand. Anyone use the 950 coil for that? Would that be a better choice for a salt water beach than the standard D2 coil? Willee
