    Yesterdays search

Got out to another park yesterday and got in an hours hunt. The SEF coil was working well found a wheat and some deep Lincolns.I had a micro meter attached to my headphones eye level and off to the right and was pleased with how well it worked. The meter wasn't a 180 scaled meter. The calibration...

    Short Park Hunt.

Another search with the 10X12 coil very heavy trash city park.Today's hunt was a struggle nothing seemed to go right, arrived late and cherry picked 180 and nickel signals. In this park a ton of trash the two hour hunt found a couple of wheat's.The SEF coil has great depth but in this park I would...

First hunt for the season and 10X12 SEF.

Finally got out for a hunt. The SEF looks nice mounted on my Sovereign and even air tested well.Went to a local park the last time I was there four people were searching at my favorite park. This park was worked out and now lets see what the SEF 10x12 coil will do performance wise.My Sovereign was...

My Sovereign I use in the field.Fitted for my ergonomics.

My Sovereign Elite has a standard GT rod assembly, and handle.Maybe not the best balanced or lightest but a good trade off for storage and transporting. The Sunray S-1 probe is one of the older big box types cut down,I like the performance on these older models. The Sunray box has a modified clamp...

Just got my SEF 10X12 coil from Kellyco.

Have always had good service with Kellyco.Anyway the weather here is still too cold to detect.Mounted the SEF coil and air tested to just make a quick check for working order.I did noticed it air tested well and looking forward to getting some field time once the weather breaks,by the way didn't...

    Just an observation?

One thing I have noticed with both the Excal and Sovereign these two detectors when compared with any other units have found more than their fair share of nice gold.Maybe because this is the preferred weapon of choice at the beach, not sure? These units do find deep silver, but some other...

Just curious, how many volts does your Minelab Excal/ Sovereign car charger put out.

I use a straight cord charger on my trips and this isn't a Minelab product but works well.My lunch box, cell phone and maps have a priority for the seat/ console area. This cord is longer and I'm able to place the battery pack out of harms way ie under the passengers seat or even in the back...

I have a small tool bag for my gear, which now is a good time to go through and access my gear. This bag has my headphones digging tools, extra battery packs and trash aprons. Also my site maps for my searches should have a priority list.Maybe this year I'll travel out of my comfort zone and check...

Got a Flyer in the Mail for the Roanoke Valley Coin & Relic 22nd Annual Open Hunt for Saturday June 1,2013

My brother Kevin from Virginia talked me into going to this hunt last year.I always enjoy these seeded hunts because you get to meet face to face with other treasure hunters.Lots of stories swapped and a chance to see what equipment other people are using.More reasons I attended the hunt was a...

Most people who never used a Sovereign are not impressed by its Target ID segments.

I remember a guy interested in buying a Sovereign asked me if this detector can tell the difference from a dime or a quarter. My answer disappointed him after telling him no difference in the target tone or ID reading for a copper penny, dime, quarter or half all are the same. Most will walk away...
