Hard out detecting trip....booked and coming!

Hi all, sitting here in the rain in NZ (despite summer coming) decided to book a 6 day detecting trip to one of the Pacific islands ;). Will let you know ATX results! Counting the days! Interestingly looked at Honolulu - but decided against this due to the heavily hunted nature of the...

    last days of winter.....

Hi all! Been ages since my last post due to house commitments etc but finally managed to squeeze in several hunts at a local beach here in Auckland. The water has been very cold lately -but today is the 1st day of spring, so things should start heating up! Two of the gold in these photos are...

    A fantastic few weeks...

Hi guys. Have had a few pretty serious outings this last few weeks since the last update! Hope to have time to do a mid year wrap up soon! The first two pictures show a pretty decent outing a few weeks back. 5 gold! The second two photos, off to another beach and in the water with a...

    Please redesign the shaft!

I have used the ATX with great results and overall, love the machine. It has well and truly paid for itself! A few weeks ago I picked up a brand new condition sea hunter mk2 - and gave it a blast yesterday. Even with a poor shaft design (not a straight shaft) was a total pleasure to use...

    Third times a charm....

Decided to rope in a mate and gain the courage to brave the cold water again. Today I can honestly say it was one of the colder experienced. Had a spearfishing wetsuit on - which is normally very warm as the water actually does not get in... The kind of wetsuit you need soapy water to put...

    Water hunt.... Same spot....but colder!

Back after a few days to the same spot, but tried in the water.....again with the ATX! The silver ring was actually on the sand (and has a small diamond) very unusual design. The gold is a plain men's wedding band (9ct)... Need to put a big X on the treasure map for that spot!

    Gold in the scoop ;)

Great Winter hunt an hour away from my home the other day. A crisp clear morning and for some reason the sand was shifted away, exposing deeper targets - sinkers are a great sign you're in the right spot! 1x silver 1x 14ct /585 with 8 small diamonds... ;) 1x 9ct the 9ct was a lucky find... I...

Time for a post...finally (and a few pics of NZ)

Hi Guys Has been ages since my last post as the weather has been generally fairly crap here in NZ! Most finds lately from in the water with a decent wetsuit as it is bloody cold! A few weeks ago, hunting with a friend in a popular beach yielded two 9 CT gold rings, - bugger one was very...

Yesterdays Hunt & Help with a Class Ring

Hi Guys had a morning off work yesterday - it was stunning weather, totally calm and clear water so went to a very sandy beach north of Auckland and spent 2 hours in the water. As it was so calm I was able to listen for small 'peeps' of signals and managed 5 rings.....all with the 8 inch mono...

    Todays hunt.... 1946 Gold

Went to a local beach today for a few hours listening for deep targets in the sand! Best find of the day is an engraved (1946) old 9 ct gold ring ;)

    Loads of silver...and finally.....GOLD!

After a number of ATX hunts in the last week - with multiple silver rings...finally took a drive up north to a beach I hunted last year. A great day to have off work and sneak away for some quiet time! There is a TON of sand on the beaches here at the moment so this was a lucky find a few...

Listening through the noise with the ATX

HI Guys for some reason was having a really hard time detecting with the ATX again, still waiting for 8 inch coil to return and have been using the 'stock coil' that covers more ground per sweep. Anyway, turns out my 'new' Grey Ghost headphones are faulty, this is a basically brand new set and...

    Tdi arrived....real world test soon

Well my TDI Pro OZ series arrived today - slightly used and a great trade for the AT Gold. Seems nicely balanced and the lithium batteries are really beasty! I think this will have some grunt. Such a shame the machine is not waterproof as it sounds great. Air tests amazing depth! Wonder what...

Off Topic - Thoughts on the TDI Pro and AT GOLD Trade for ATX USER

Hi Guys a month or so ago I won a Garrett AT GOLD which looks like a nice machine - however cannot be used at the beach at all - I have not even tried. Anyway, someone I know has a Whites TDI Pro (2013 build) he cannot use as he does not like PI's and is not near the beaches! He is keen to...

    super lucky hunt.....

Was tied up at work all day and meanwhile one of my friends was out detecting most of the day.... Anyway driving home and popped into a little beach not known at all for swimming.... Popular for fishing! Jumped in the water intending to just check the area for another day or scope out the sand...

    Huge silver ring and.....another gold

Went for another hunt today (2 hours) at a local very hunted beach! Using the ATX and the stock coil with my Straight shaft! First decent find was a MASSIVE 21 gram silver ring....seriously, who would wear that weight! Second decent find a very quiet HIGH LOW and several scoops later out pops...

Thoughts on Minelabs sdc2300 vs the ATX

Hi guys.... I have waited and waited for ages to see more data on the sdc2300 at the beach but aside one or two videos (old) there is really limited info on the SDC2300 and beach / water hunting. I like the look of the machine and if the 8 inch mono is like the ATX it should be great in the...

    Latest Hunt.....Gold in the Scoop!

Hi Guys managed to sneak a another hunt this week finally! Very few targets and lots of junk. Really missing the small coil - it is so much easier to pin point with! Saying that - the depth achieved by the stock coil is great. After a few hours in the water with deep sand - about to give...

    shaft concerns....and a warning sign?

Hi guys. Wanted to give you a heads up to check your machines. Since having my ATX I have experienced faulty stock coil, and 8 inch mono coil. The typical fault (aside the floppy issue) relates to a noisy coil or erratic behaviour. At first I though this was just isolated and maybe it is...
