    9" spider eclipse coil

According to Carl it is the same performance as the 950 coil. He said it is the same coil in a different housing. I liked the idea of the center mounted coil.

Guys this post has gotten long and the nickel problem looks like it is solved. Start a new post to continue discussing your settings. This is a good discussion.

The reason it is under Spectragraph is because it changes if the bars are based on the intensity or consistency of the signal. It changes the visual information on the screen. It now will take 30 hits instead of twenty hits for full bar height with your new setting. It can make the spectragraph...

    interesting observation

That is what I said in the first place. As Whites stated a good detector could (possibly) give the results but only under exceptional conditions. They said it not me They didn't say they had seen the problem and I said I had never experienced the problem. You can never say never I guess? When I...

    interesting observation

OK, I checked with Whites and here is the reply. I suppose it is possible if the ground is really unusually mineralized. The smaller nickel signal could saturate (not respond) if the filters are not set properly. Would not be typical and a bit of a parlor trick. If the nickel were in the ground...

I won't disagree with what you both have said. I myself have never had a coin on the surface not register that I can remember. It is too wet outside for the next two days to see if I can duplicate your results with any programs or settings. I'm not saying it didn't happen, give me a little time.

    Interesting.

The V3i should see a nickel on the ground with any filter.

    Recovery speed ?

Explorer, I have found your method the easiest and fastest to set the R/D for separation.

Cadman the MXT program rally won't emulate the MXT. Carl was the first to admit this. Ironworker, if you start making changes without knowing why you are making them is why people run into problems. Daddy, with the filters, the lower the filter number is the less of the signal is filtered out...

    v3i vs mxt pro

My last Whites was a MXT which I liked. Any answer you get will be just an opinion. I am curious why the MXT would be a better coin machine. I would ask the question on the Whites forum. Monte prefers the MXT Pro so you should get a book explaining his reasons.

Good write up Daddy. I still stand by my advice. If you are not happy sell it. There are too many people doing great with the V3i. The reason for most of us to detect is to have fun. If it ain't happining it is time for a change. Share your setup with Martin, he isn't that far from you.

    Crash Course on Filters

I don't believe the 6x10 is deeper than the 6x8 SEF. But that is what I remember and I have no stats to back it up.

That's my thought Daddy, if it works for you use it, if not find something that will.

    Crash Course on Filters

The 6x8 SEF is more prone to EMI and so is my 10x12 SEF. Glad you could find a solution and have success. :clapping:Right now I don't have a 6x10 but I have owned them. I never thought the 6x10 was a depth monster but it seperates well. On the Whites forum the 6x10 is a favorite of many users.

I'm sorry but I cannot understand after almost 5 years of continued posts stating all the trouble you have experienced why you would not just sell the V3i and use the M6. If you believe the M6 is better use it. "Either I am a terrible tector, or I've never mastered the settings, or the V3i...
