If you swing the detector long enough, if you eat all your vegetables, if you do the right thing, something good is bound to show up!

Back on the first of Aug. we went over to Boise to look for a lost gold and diamond pendant that was lost for ten years. If you remember that post, we found it in just 5 minutes much to the gratitude and amazement of the owner of said pendant, Lee. Nancy used her skills and found it. [attachment...

I had to take a picture of this because it cracked me up...

This is the snack machine in the hospital where my new grandson was born last week. I just had to laugh. [attachment 136427 P8120039.JPG] It is funny to me. I shudder to think what is in the vending machine outside of Rays proceedure room.

A little water hunting this morning and a nice find for me!

I just love to go get wet early in the morning on a hot summer day. Yesterday I got a little wet first thing digging a cell phone out of a ladies toilet:lol: but this morning I hit my favorite swimming beach. I had the whole place to myself and the water was clear and cool. [attachment 136421...

I would like to introduce my brand new grandson!

His name is Theodore Issac and he was born 8/11/09 at 2201. 8 pounds 9 oz. and 21 1/2 ". Here he is at a whopping 1 hour old. [attachment 135662 P8110021.JPG] It was a tough labor for his Mom (And his Grandpa and his Dad) that lasted from 0500 until they did a Cesarean after 16 hours of...

We recovered a lost gold and diamond necklace pendant after 10 years in the ground.

Lee works for one of my wholesalers and we have been friends for a long time. Last month we were going over a big order and got to talking about other stuff. She asked me if I knew anyone who had a metal detector and knew how to use it. She was selling her house and did not want to leave...

I did a little water hunting this morning. Aaaargh! There be gold in water Matey! And a wierd find for this part of the world.

Nothing like getting wet up to your neck on a hot summer day. I went up to the swimming beach early to avoid the crowds and managed to hunt for a couple hours before I had to get back to work. I hunt this place out in the winter when the water is low and when the swimming season resumes it gets...

Elson's visit and "The Elson Rap" :lmfao:

The focus of Elson's visit was to see more of Idaho, do a little detecting. and to have fun. We did not find the "Clopman diamond" or a pile of gold and silver, but we had a blast. I regret that because of an emergency I had to leave Elson alone for almost 24 hours of his short visit to deal...

Elson, day two. Old school, mountain woods, old church, and a very high mountain top.

FIrst, thank you for you concern on our emergency. We got through it and I was able to get back with Elson at about 1330. We spent the rest of the day until dark having a great time! Our first stop was at the1920's school where I spent grades 1-5. I have been hunting this place with every...

First photos of the Desert Cajun....

We headed out at 0600 and after a little breakfast we were on our way to the old stage stop. Elson was impressed with the scenery. His weapon for the hunt today was my XLT. Not being used to something that was not green made him feel a little handicaped. [attachment 131271 P6290339.JPG] He...

Tranquility base here, the Elson has landed. :)

He showed up a little late and reported that the pilot had to do a little crop dusting on the way. Cheap tickets though! We ate and Elson had fun with my grandkids. I took him to a park as the sun was going down to give him a little experience with a strange detector before we hunt for...

We went into the desert today and found a couple of meteor craters. Pretty cool place!

We spotted these craters from the air a few years ago and I have always wanted to see them up close. My son Jim did the google earth thingy and we worked out a plan to drive there. The road left a lot to be desired, it was more like a boulder field than a road, but we crawled in and found the...

Do any of you button experts know what these are? Any help would be appriciated. :)

I dug all these in Idaho. This forum has enough talent to give me an answer on these mystery buttons, I am sure! The first two are coat size. [attachment 129419 buttonwithcrossedtorches.jpg] [attachment 129420 crossedflintlickbutton.jpg] I know what this one is but thought you might like to see...

I remember some of the Vets that I knew who have touched my life

On this day we all should pause to thank those who have given us the gift ot freedom. I would like you to meet some Vets I have been blessed to have known. I will keep it simple. Walt started the war in the Aluetians and fought the whole war. He was wounded several times and was at Anzio and...

How about some more canyon photos?

There is a campground down by the lake. You can put your boat in the water and fish or just sit and look at the hills. Here is the north view and the south view from the campground. We did find the stage stop and do a little detecting...

The place we were looking for was used in the late 1800's as a stage stop. The wife of the guy that ran the place was killed by Indians here in 1880 and is buried down the road a little way. The building was burned down around WWII time and the site is hard to find, that helps preserve it. I...

We took a trip south to try and locate an old stage stop. We found it, but first, you just have to see the country we were in, breathtaking!

I have been researching an old stage stop that was on the trail to Nevada from the Boise Valley back in the 1800's. The place was burned down long ago but we hoped that we could find enough to locate it. Our trip took us close to an ancient caldera that had eroded into one of the most beautiful...

Another cool spot we found in the hills today. Do you like gold panning and gem stones? :)

On the way into the cabin site we passed a cliff that just did not belong where it was. The area is all lava boulders and lava flows. There is jus no other types of rock above ground any where but in the stream beds. It is obvious the quartz and gold had to have come from somewhere. This is what...

I was a bad boy today. I skipped work and scouted an old mining cabin in the hills east of my place....

It was such a nice day that I could not stand to do one more darn plumbing related item. I had heard about a canyon up in an old gold area that had the ruins of an old cabin at the head of the creek. Jim and I drove the ten miles up to the area and drove the "Road" if you want to call it that...
