The detectors and digging equipment are on the way (UPS) the tickets are purchaced, and I think I am getting over the creeping crud that has kept me in bed for the last three days. My fever broke last night and I can now walk by the bathroom without running in and kneeling. There is a good...

It is not the best of times to go higher in the hills. The drive up on the main roads was bad enough with snow floor an snowing all the...

That ditch surfing post got me thinking about the things we used to do here in the winter for fun.......

Hooky-bobbin' This involves waiting till a car drives by slow enough on a snow covered street that you can dash out and grab the rear bumper. You can hang on for a long time and travel around as long as the driver doesn't see you in the rear view mirror. The main danger and enemy to a hooky...

It's about time I made my first detecting post of 2008. Cold, snow, and silver, not too bad for January!... ;)

It has been a long cold winter so far and no detecting till now. Sunday's balmy 35 degree weather put me in a detecting mood. I was pulling my grand kids on the sled behind the four wheeler and noticed the snow was getting a little mushy! Tonight I headed out to the swimming beach where I took...

I have been looking for one of these for 40 years!!! I now have it.......

Back when I was in highschool, some sadist invented the swing bike. I knew of just one. It was for sale new at the Western Auto store. After taking a short ride on it and nearly killing myself on the sidewalk in front of the store, I had to have one. Just one problem, I could not scrape up...

I posted two rings that Nancy and I found about a month ago. The report is back as to what they are

I found the gold/green one in the water, and Nancy found the silver/diamond one on land on the same day. I gave them to a jeweler friend of our for analysis and at last we know what they are. The gold ring is gold. The ring is hand made and very old. The jewelry lady wants to buy it from me...

The hot weather at the ghost town lead the boys to make a decision, they wanted to water hunt! Also, the weather report for tomorrow was rain and stormy weather. They held a meeting at the truck. Elson and his spur, and Falk, took a vote. Water hunting the rest of the day, and leave early for...

0500 came early in the mountains of Idaho for our intrepid travelers. Betty had set Elsons alarm (By accident she claimed) for 0045 so it was the second time he had gotten up and had his coffee. I arrived at the motel at 0535 and found them standing in the darkness with detectors in hand. We...

I just spent the afternoon and evening with four nice people...

As they drove into my driveway Elson and Falk were still arguing about the "Shortcut" that Elson had taken in Denver. It ended up being a toll road and cost them over 6 bucks before Elson took another shortcut through a cornfield and ended up back on the Interstate. He was afraid it would have...
