    Found a Gold necklace today

Nice find! Good on you for not notching that range of TID. I would have that range notched except on the beach or prospecting.

XP Deus 2 coils 11 inch or 13 inch preferred

That would be a 2" more coverage tip-to-toe. Great if you want to cover more area in less time without sacrificing depth. But horrible if you are covering furrowed fields or rough terrain. The 9" coil is tops for those areas IMO.

XP Deus 2 coils 11 inch or 13 inch preferred

Have you been able to actually compare the 13x11 with the 11 round? I would be interested to hear your thoughts. Theoretically, it should be equivalent to the detection depth of a 12" coil, but like I said before, that's not my experience with other detectors.

XP Deus 2 coils 11 inch or 13 inch preferred

I could be wrong on the Deus, but in my experience with elliptical coils, the 13" (13"x11") will get a wider sweep but not necessarily greater depth than the narrowest side (11"). Good for quickly covering more ground, but not necessarily going to find deeper targets than the lighter 11" coil...

    Banning of metal detecting

This! I'm a witness to my plugs being removed over night by an unknown critter (guessing groundhog or skunk) at a property I was detecting over a couple weeks' time. Not sure why they do it, but it does happen.

Can Dogs hear our metal detectors ?

I was reminded that electronic components as well as the coil windings do oscillate (vibrate) when in operation. That in turn could produce a low-level whine that a dog can hear but humans can't. A good example of that is the old CRT TV's that often made an audible whine when in operation.

    Here it is

The nice thing about a 2-box over a PI with a large coil is that they will ignore small surface targets. While I wouldn't want to dig something 5-10ft., It would be good for a 2-3ft target in nail infested soil. Using one would require knowledge of typical cache locations around an old homestead...

Who's still swinging the original deus and orx?

Had I not impulse purchased the Deus 2, I would have just kept using my D1 as it is still just fine for the areas I detect. While the D2 does edge out the D1 on ID and depth, it doesn't pinpoint as accurately, and it tends to false much more in iron (multifrequency). If your hunting is parks...

Am I the first to post this???

This option was anticipated for the D1 around 8-10 years ago. I thought they gave up on it.

    Cord Just For Updates

The DIN connector on the charge cable works for updating the remote if you didn't already know. However, I'm not sure about the other mini-USB connectors on the charge cable. I used a separate USB to mini-USB cable I had laying around the house to update my WS6.

Can Dogs hear our metal detectors ?

If I grasp your question right, dogs might hear your detectors headphones or speaker, but they don't hear the electromagnetic radiation that is output by the coil. Acoustic radiation and electromagnetic radiation can fall into the hearing range of dogs, but they are two completely different animals.

    Gold coins found in Kentucky

We've all heard/read the stories over the years of the US and state governments seizing finds like this with only a pat on the back and a humiliating blurb in the news as compensation. By now, if people don't know how to keep mouth shut, they deserve to lose the discovery.

    Eagle button

I hate to be a downer, but uniform buttons have a brass back. That one looks to have been iron that rusted away which would make it a civilian button. Nice find, still old and quite possibly an era piece.

Disc at 6.8 on some programs…why so specific? Why not 7?

This is a wild guess and not based on experience, but I know of users who have reported in the past that they don't like using disc above 5 because it reduces sensitivity to deeper targets across the spectrum. My guess is a disc above 6.8 might be the point where the D2 performance rapidly drops...

    Coil charging clip

Yes, but I have no idea when they redesigned it. It could have been the latter years of the D1 after complaints to XP of the charge clip breaking. The new design appears to prevent the user from opening the jaw too much which causes work hardening of the plastic hinges. Sorry about the poor...

    Coil charging clip

I did the same thing to my charging clip when the tensioner broke. However, one arm or the other will eventually break near the body. If you don't already have a backup clip, it would be wise to grab one.

Cost to replace coil battery on a 2018 Deus 9" coil

I replaced them myself. I think the batteries were around $15 each at the time.

Cost to replace coil battery on a 2018 Deus 9" coil

I believe I purchased my Deus in 2014. My batteries lasted to 2020. They still worked well enough for a short 2-4hr hunt, but the battery was at 1 bar by the time I was done. Normally the battery's would show 3 bars after 2-3 hr. hunt. I decided to change them fall of 2020. Now I own the Deus 2...

    Coil charging clip

The coil cover is what aligns the charging clip. While you don't need it to align the clip, not using the cover would make the task more difficult than necessary. In addition, sliding the clip to align the pins can cause them to bend or break. Having sand in the coil cover will not reduce the...

    Coil charging clip

Now they probably are the same, but the original D1 clips weren't as stiff and didn't solidly lock in over the coil like the clip for my D2. There used to be a lot of complaints about the coil clip not making contact. I believe 2018 is when I bought my 11" coil for the D1. At that time they had...
