Off Subject. For those interested in history (WWI)

In the Sydney Telegraph (theteelegraph.com.au) on Friday the 6th of may 2011, on page 7, there is a three quarter page story tittled "Last link to World War I combat dies". The story is about Veteran Claude Choules who served in the British Navy in WWI and as a Petty Officer in the...

    Was that prepare or a pre-repair hunt?:detecting:

I've been waiting for almost a week for a copy of the receipt from my local dealer so that I can send the Omega back to the States for a minor adjustment. might have to give them another ring tomorrow. Anyway, I wasn't going to wait any longer, so took the Omega out to my favourite spot just...

Is there anybody here that can pass on how to do a trim pot adjustment on the sensitivity?

I got the Omega back from the local dealer today, however, on a phone to Teknetics in the US about an hour ago, confirmed that the sensitivity on my unit is set too high. So if someone is able to pass on how to adjust it, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Mick Evans. (I could send to...

Question about the overload signal with DD coils on the Omega.

I was wondering if the overload signal is as prevalent on the Omega when it has the DD coil attached as it is when it has the standard coil attached? Thanks. Mick Evans.

    Congrats on the new forum.

When did it kick off? Who is the moderator? It is a detector deserving of it's own forum. I think that it will be it will be every bit as popular as the Ace was. Mick Evans.

Is it normal for the Omega to give an overload signal on a pull tab at 1 inch?

Just trying to figure out whether it's operating normally and whether it's just an over sensitive detector. It can give a partial overload signal at almost 2 inches on a pull tab and even more easily gives an overload signal on almost all our modern Aussie coins at 2 inches, except for the...

Has anybody ever used the 8in concentric coil on an Explorer?

I ordered the 5in DD today and when the 8in was mentioned, it got me curious. I imagine that It may give better audio feedback than a DD but I've never heard of anyone using a concentric coil on an Explorer before. Thanks for any input you can give. Mick Evans.

    5 years of the X-Terra.

How quickly time flies. I stumbled onto this forum just as it was getting off the ground. The X-terra was about to be released and looking at it, I remember thinking that I've gotta have one of these. That must have been in October 2005. The X-terras went on sale in November. Starting out with...

A 'Spectacular' hunt nails a coin that predates European settlement by sixty years!:ausflag:

I went down to Sydney to watch both my sons perform at the School Spectacular last week end. I packed the SE and although I only had 1 chance for a single hunt in the early morning of Saturday morning, it was well worth it. I had to go with plan B as the place I was going to hunt was in use. The...

It looks like Saturdays hunt is washed out.:usan:

Just had a look at the river flowing past the end of our street (the Macquarie). It's now in flood and has just covered one of 2 bridges in town. This bridge is the main road from Melbourne to Brisbane.:ausflag: near it, is my favourite spot which has a regular market. Unfortunately, the site in...

Noise cancelling. Digger. You are a genius!

Or more correctly, you read the manual. I read one of your posts the other day about using the noise cancelling feature. It's been one of those overlooks features to me that just didn't seem important. I've also been wondering and frustrated as to why the visual information is usually so...

I wonder if Garrett's will finally dump the belltone if they go down the modulated tone style of sounds as

the belltone is the exact opposite of it. It's without doubt the worst single tone of any detector on the market and denies the user of any useful tonal information. It's important to be able to hear what is going on with a tone as you go over a target. While visual information puts you in the...

Hey John B. Do you realise that you are about the only one carrying on detecting as normal!

I hope you get a cure for your piles real soon though. You might be able to hunt in cotton wool soon though (white mould). Hopefully that may ease your suffering. Mick Evans.

Rare coin find with a 705.

It seems that the 705 has notched up another good find for one very lucky Aussie X-Terra user. It has been reported on another couple of forums and I have spoken on the phone earlier this week to someone that has seen the coin in question. It's a Holey Dollar. From what I understand, there is...

Interesting result using the high frequency coil.

I've been play around with the Terra over the last week and have noticed that when I use the 5x10 DD high frequency coil, the Target ID and Depth reading seem to be the most stable by far. I had to targets stability turned off as I found it to be of no benefit. As I only have this one high...

Recovery speed difference between the 1350 and GTI's?

Just wondering how much faster recovery speed the GTP is over the GTI's with their respective standard coils attached?. I imagine that because the GTP doesn't have to run 2 receive coils, that would make a noticeable difference. Thanks. Mick Evans.

    Target ID stability?

Just wondering if anybody has noticed any differences in you recovery rates when using the target ID stability. I've never thought to use it till today, but have noticed, that on those hunts where you feel like you're "in the zone' where I chase after all sorts of bouncing signals that I don't...

    Coin haul

The reason those coins keep flipping upside down, is a byproduct of the fact that water down under flows in an anti clockwise direction as it goes down the drain.:nerd::devil:, So I think you must be right. I'm looking forward to the chance to drop in. I hope that it works out that way. I'm not...

Very Nice BT! It looks like about $300. How long did it take him? Mick Evans. BTW it sure would be nice to check the V3 out in person. The family is heading to Tassie for Chrissie and the missus was making noises about taking a tour through central Vic. I might just take advantage of where she...
