How many coils are there for the ID Edge?

Is it just the one, or is there a good variety of coils? If there is a variety, would you be able to tell me what they are. Thanks. Mick Evans.

Can you tell much about a target by the sound of the audio alone on the F2?

ie larger targets sounding wider, rubbish targets sounding broken up? Do pull tabs and screw caps give off any distinctive tell tale signs of what they really are? eta. Mick Evans.

Got a question for those that have hunted with both the 1500 and the 2500.

Does hunting with sizing and depth reading showing all the time on the 2500, make much of a difference to your hunt as opposed to having to hit the pinpoint button to get that information from the 1500? Mick Evans.

How can you tell a coin from a screw cap?

G'day all. I've been out playing with my XS but seem to have a great deal of trouble with telling these 2 items apart. I have plotted where our Aussie coins are on the smart find screen (with an overlaid bit of clear plastic on the screen) but can not figure this one out. Is there something...

    Had a good hunt.

G'day all. Happy new year. I had a good opportunity to hunt while visiting family down in Sydney over the last week. Most of the hunts went pretty well with some personal records smashed. I had originally planed a more conservative hunt schedule, but as I was doing better than expected, I...

Just like to wish all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

We will be off to Sydney till the new year. This is also my best hunt of the year, so I can't wait. I look forward to talking to you all in the new year. Mick Evans.

Got a question for you those that swing both the GTI's and the Ace.

Does using the GTI 1500 make any difference to the amount of coins you find on a hunt, or your coin to rubbish ratio at the end of each hunt over the Ace 250? Mick Evans.

    Unleashed the Terra today.

I was due to lose the Terra for a couple of months to a mate yesterday, but if you read Marco's post, my mate lives near that part of the world, so couldn't fly due to the weather. So this allowed me to get out with the 30 for a few hours today. Applying the new pinpointing techniques really...

Put the standard coil back on today and noticed something that might be of interest.

Just after I discovered how to pinpoint with the standard coil a couple of months back (using the 12 o'clock position on the inner coil as the point of location) I bought the large coil. Although I haven't been too active with the 30 this year, I decided it was time to go hunt with it, with the...

The Ace is a hard act to follow.

I heard today that a lady had lost a gold watch at one of my favourite spots. I figured that it was a good excuse to get a mid week hunt in. Between talking and swallowing flies (the#@!*&## things were all over me today) I was unable to locate it for her.( I suspect that she may have been a...

    What is digital filtering?

Hi all. I've been wondering if the Explorer has a ground balancing capability and found the the instruction manual (I own an XS) mentioned that it uses digital filtering. Wat is that as opposed to ground balancing? thanks. Mick Evans.

Went on holidays to the Gold Coast and finally got to beach hunt with the Explorer.

The family returned last week after a 2 week holiday on the Gold Coast, with a good time had by all. On the way, we stopped off to see the grave of a well known bush ranger that used the tittle of Captain Thunderbolt (Fred Ward) I only found out 6 weeks back from my father, that his grand father...

Went on holidays and finally got some beach hunting in.

Returned from a 2 week holiday with the family on the Gold Coast a couple of days back and had a throughly good time. I even got to stop off and visit the grave of a well known bush ranger (known as Thunderbolt) that my great grand farther was an acquaintance of. Between taking the kids to the...

Made an interesting discovery about the Ace today.

Although I haven't had much of a chance to get out and hunt lately, I've spent a bit of time over the last couple of afternoon's experimenting with the Ace and X-Terra, to see what I can get out of them. In particular, one of the experiments, was to determine, how to best hunt next to play...

Had success with a new approach to pinpointing.

Ever since I've had the X-Terra 30, I've always operated under the pretence that I pinpoint using the centre of the coil. Perhaps the graphic on the pinpoint mode has had something to do with that. After swinging the Ace for the last 12 months, I've mostly pinpointed by locating the target under...

    Exploding battery.

I went out for a quick hunt today. I packed the Ace, my Explorer and my Pocket Probe. as I raced out the door, I chucked my mobile and spare 9 volt battery into the same pocket. I was trying to reach the $800 mark with the Ace today (from when I bought it; it's been a slow year this year) I was...

How does pinpointing with the 70 differ from the other 2 machines?

From memory it seems that in prospecting mode seems to be more accurate. Is that so, and if it is, why does it work better? I took the 30 out for a hunt last week end to get reconnected with it, my son had a go as well, and found more than I did:thumbup:.We fond just over $11 in a couple of...

    A question for Aussie detectorists.

I'm just wondering how well your X-Terra's go at hearing a five cent piece. I've been trying to get mine to detect one sitting on the ground and seem to have trouble picking it up. I set the sensitivity to max and checked the ground for other targets. I can hear the coin about half the time...

Is the X-Terra's pinpoint mode a flawed design?

I finally got to get some time to take my X-Terra outside today to run it through it's paces. I couldn't help but notice that while I go into pinpoint that a coin that is 2 inches to the left of the coil, shows up on the metre as being in the centre of the coil. the second time that I sent my...

Can any of the GTI or GTP series of detectors be used without the Bell tone?

From what I've read, if you go into profiling on the 1350, then it's possible to hunt without it, but I'm not sure if that is practical. Also, is there any video feed available on the net that one can view these detectors going through there paces? Sorry guys. I really dislike the bell tone...
