Let me get this straight...Hunting by sound.

Even if you make a nickel sound like a dime, it will still VDI differently. The tone would just be a personal preference.

Let me get this straight...Hunting by sound.

Yes, you can give nickels from, say, 19-25 the same high tone as pennies & silver from 70-up, then make everything else a low tone. However, any pulltabs that happen to fall in the 19-25 range will also have a high tone. - Carl

    To White's engineers..........Rumors persist........

No truth to that whatsoever. Vision is 100% White's technology, designed & manufactured in the USA.

    First Silver with the Vision!

...pay attention to the Analyze & Pinpoint screens, BC's tend to hit hardest at 22.5k whereas silver is best at 2.5k. - Carl

    is carl from north carolina

Yup, from Greensboro. I was home just last week. Will be permanently moved to Oregon in June. At that point, I guess I'll have to drop Carl-NC.

Aha! Something interesting from the White's Engineers interview....

Hi Dan, As others have pointed out, White's is always working on new products but we never give specifics either on the design features or the expected time frame. We can't. Why? Because we have hundreds of dealers who are in the business of selling detectors, and we don't want to kill their...

    Vision Custom Tones

It's faster than you think. Let's say you want to set VDI's 30-60 to tone 150... go to VDI 30 and change it to 150... then press/hold ENTER and press DOWN to set subsequent VDI's to the same tone, until you reach 60. I can set up a 10-tone custom tone ID in about a minute. - Carl

Does anyone have a "Vision" on Larry?

Larry was a big help today, both in the booth and at the seminar. Thanks for loaning him out! - Carl

    Manual

Vision is in full production. There are no tweaks being done. We are working on a multi-language version. I believe you will find Vision extremely easy to navigate and figure out even without a manual. But if you have questions, just ask! - Carl

    Thunder in the distance

Sorry, Fisher only built metal detectors. They were invented about 50 years prior. Alexander Graham Bell built the first practical handheld metal detector in 1882. - Carl

    Ground Tracking

Got all the right letters... Jeff Foster also did field testing on Vision, and I'm hoping he'll drop in with his comments. I don't have much time on the MXT or GMT, but I suspect tracking on Vision isn't as aggressive. But then again, I've not used Vision with Track Speed cranked up... I tend to...

Who ARE the engineers behind the Vision...

Hmmm... I don't remember doing a field report on the MXT. As far as the engineering team, I don't want to name names unless I have permission both from mgmt and from the individuals... and I am leaving tomorrow for a cross-country drive to Oregon, via Longview, TX, so this question will have to...

    Analyze Screen???

Yes, you can set up trigger-neutral to be the Analyze screen and trigger-forward to be the SpectraGraph screen. I don't recommend this, because the redraw rate on the Analyze screen is really too slow for normal hunt speed.

Where is the vision in Whites Vision? Bluetooth is just to slow !

There is no reason someone can't produce aftermarket WHPs. They can easily figure it out, just like they figured out how to make compatible coils. But what they will probably find is that they can't sell them any cheaper than we can sell them, and without a market differentiator there is no...

    DFX vs Vision ?

I'll just put it this way... I'm a long-time DFX user, and my DFX is now retired.

    What We Know So Far

As I posted somewhere, I've run it on a couple of beaches in Oregon, but targets are really few. Works really well, the DD coil is a little sensitive to bumping in salt as most DD coils are, the 950 coil is rock solid though.

How close can 2 visions get to each other

The WHP radio has 76 channels to choose from.

    Some new pictures

You would still have to reprogram the whole chip, and then recalibrate.

    Some new pictures

It is not our intention to create software that users can download and install. The problem is that when this is done, the detector must be fully recalibrated, which end users cannot do. Since the language cat got out, yes, we will offer a Vision Internationalle with at least Spanish, French, &...

    Headphones ?

They are a little heavier than normal 'phones because they have a circuit board and 2 AA batteries. But they are very comfortable and snug. - Carl
