April Totals Using The VX9 - I'm Impressed!

The Vortex has always proved to be a great coin vacuum since day one. Here's my totals for April. My plan is to purchase a gold coin or nugget at the end of the year with my $$$ totals. It's an annual tradition going back many, many years. I found my first silver coin in April.....several...

Out With The VX9 This Afternoon And Found A Surprising Amount Of Coins

It sure does look like silver. I looked it up.......aluminum and bronze.:( It is from a 1996 release. However, there is a good story to go along with that. "Recently, this particular $1 coin has been the subject of some rather ‘egregious’ eBay listings, with asking prices soaring as high as...

Just a reminder to folks posting on the Garrett Forum about the VX9 issues.

I always liked the hockey puck coil. I always ran it full sensitivity, getting into some of the tightest vegetation growth areas, and often found targets.

Well, it looks like you can not go to the previous version at the moment. I am waiting like everyone else or a down-loadable fix.

Garrett is working on fixing the recent VORTEX VX9 issue discovered by someone .

Garrett should be able to repair the V3i model, as they inherited all the parts and components with the purchase of White's.

Out With The VX9 This Afternoon And Found A Surprising Amount Of Coins

Got out to a small park with a tennis court and tot lot. The tot-lot produced one nickel, however the grassy hills surrounding the tot-lot produced the rest of the coins. Even with the current glitches, it is still useable. You just have to give it a 3-4 second rest occasionally when it retains...

Just a reminder to folks posting on the Garrett Forum about the VX9 issues.

They are aware of the issues and are working on it. Just a reminder that this is a Garrett forum, available for all for getting/giving Garrett support, posting finds and being used in a respectable manner. Deviating too far from this will result in posts being removed. Thanks for your...

Sorry Squirrel, I don't work for Garrett. I am not privy to a lot of inside issues. I turned 70 earlier this year. I was a friend of Charles. We used to correspond by mail, as computers weren't main stream yet. Anyhow, I volunteer my services, to keep my mind sharp after recent retirement. Look...

Garrett Vortex VX9 may have major flaw(s) with latest version software.

I sent it to Garrett. I imagine they will have a fix for it soon. That would be crazy if we all had to send in our detectors back for a fix. It's nice that it can now be done on line.

Great! I did too. I won't allow these issues to turn this forum into a frenzy like on some other forums. This forum is for supporting each other. Although issues may be reported regarding technical issues, they will be sent to Garrett where they belong. and dealt with.

    JUST MY THOUGHTS 😉

How many metal detectors are you currently using? And yes, the GTI 2500 is still being serviced. It's the only unit that can attach to the 2 box unit where depth is measured in feet, not inches in fist sized targets. And it's the only unit that can size a target for you in the top 5 inches. I...

I Dug My First Silver Coin With The Vortex Today

I think it is too. Overall, it seems better then the AT Pro at depth and ID. The AT Pro has been my best metal detector for many years. It really excelled with finding silver coins and identifying my Canadian coins as such. It's going to be interesting to see where the Vortex Series will go...

I Dug My First Silver Coin With The Vortex Today

It was 7- 8 inches deep, and gave a nice clear high tone in all directions. I ran the unit zero discrimination, multifrequency for maximum depth. This unit is deep!
