How Ironic.....I Went Prospecting Yesterday. Lost My Glasses, A Detectorist (myself) Found Them This Morning

Yesterday was St. Patrick's day. Well, the sun came out, so I headed down to the river. While walking in the woods towards the river, I ran into a leprechaun. He pointed me in the right direction to where the pot of gold was buried. After two different ropes to safely get myself down to the...

    Ace 300 coil question

If it has a coil cover, remove it and clean out the debris. There could be water in the coil. Drying it out in a warm, but not hot environment might dry it up. The coil wire where it enters the coil could be frayed and shorting out. Sounds like you need a coil replacement, or consider a new...

Out Coin Shooting In The The Snow Today With The VX9

The snow was starting to melt with grass showing, then we got snow dumped on us during the last couple of days. Temps went down a bit too. However, metal detecting is a hobby, and great exercise. I was cleaning out my closet and found this old Garrett detector bag. I think I bought it...

Using The 3 Bars On The Vortex Screen On Bi-Metallic Coins To ID Them

Definitely. In multifrequency, you should seethe curser bouncing around a low number (iron) and High number (80+) with the high number designating a high conductor target. Under those situations, you have to dig it to see what the higher conductor is.

Using The 3 Bars On The Vortex Screen On Bi-Metallic Coins To ID Them

Yes I am. The learning curve is not only fairly easy, but not frustrating like some other units I have used. To me it's a "BINGO!"

Using The 3 Bars On The Vortex Screen On Bi-Metallic Coins To ID Them

I found it's quite easy to ID Bi-metallic coins with the Garrett Vortex. The machine is running in zero discrimination, multi frequency. Although the numbers bounce back and forth, the same numbers do repeat themselves and show up as two cursers on the graph temporarily.

Got In A Few Hunts Using The Garrett Vortex VX9. Got Jewelry, Tokens And Coins. It's A Great Machine For Canadian Coinage.

It easily identifies Canadian clad. That was a real plus for me! As some other Garrett machines, the ID jumps back and forth 30's to 70's. You kinda have to also learn the audio, like the AT Pro. The best frequency to hunt clad with is 25 kHz. The single bar graph also shows the curser bouncing...

I don't think a lot of people are aware of how successful Garrett has been in influencing today's technology with patents, research and development for the sport. https://www.findmall.com/threads/list-of-garrett-detectors.343577/
